I have probably tried it a dozen times in my life, and lots of it was from shitposters who said it was good stuff. Not once did I ever get high. I had no reaction whatsoever. I get much higher posting on Usenet.

As far as I'm aware bans tend not to be a reason for people to leave (The bans themselves happen rarely. I'm ignoring Matt with this). It uses to be a lot more common in ye olden days, but not anymore really.
