Seriously though, Cheney is gone now. The Bush administration was 6 years ago. It's comforting to keep focusing on the past and have a nice two minutes hate screaming BUSH! BUSH! BUUUSHHH! The fact is, Obama has continued and expanded the national security state unabated. The Bush CIA tortured some people and the Obama DoJ will prosecute none of them. The PATRIOT act, NSA surveillance, secret kill lists, regime change, militarization of the police, war on drugs, drone warfare, foreign wars of choice and probably even black sites and torture continue under Obama the same as Bush.

But they violated the Geneva Convention and the UN Human Rights Bill by committing torture. They committed war crimes. They need to pay.

I agree. There needs to be a Nuremberg-style war crimes tribunal in the wake of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But Obama has categorically refused to prosecute any of this, and indeed is carrying on the Bush program with enthusiasm.
