I thought meeting Bert behind a dumpster at the truckstop inspired this character. So you are not writing a homoerotic tucker fucker story? Ok

Ugh my god
No Catherine that is an average thing to do that's really something anyone can do
Most people don't do it because they have no reason to write a two page story about a trucker

When you do write a novel, start one chapter about the European trucker driving down the autobahn on a foggy night with the line "There is fog and then there fog!".

Cat went wrong in thinking she has some 'major unique obscure talent', not writing the story
I know a shitload of writers and none of them think theyre gifted
They don't write a random meaningless shit story and say 'how did I do this! Am I gifted??'
Nobody
> I clearly do need more research which is probably why this will never go anywhere. > And a trucking simulation inspired this character.
Then I have the ideal movie for you. Great for inspiration Film was shot for just TV type low budget movie and later when CEO of Universal viewed it he said WTF? This should be reshot for Europe release - So you can get either version on download. Its ideal as a truck based movie and there is a reason why YOU should see this movie considering location location location - Written by a world class Si Fi writer who did some great stuff for Twilight Zone
And its also the only movie I ever had a tiny tiny very tiny but important part in - Technical in nature and Business in nature at same time.

Cath wrote or is writing a story. Should she consider it a gift? Probably not, but the consensus seems to be ''NO, YOU GO FUCK YOURSELF! I ONCE WAS FORCED TO WRITE A STORY IN HIGHSCHOOL ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE. ANYONE AND EVERYONE CAN DO IT!

5000-15000 words if you're looking to submit to a publication. but some want longer and some want shorter, so it depends on where you're looking to be published.

Why is OP so precious to you? All that was said is that writing a short story isn't much of a talent, and you take personal offense for people questioning this.

Personal offense? I don't think so. If someone posted about a painting and got the same reaction by anons I'd grief them about it too.
Did you use a paintbrush in middle school too?

Are you struggling to find inspiration for your short story? Why don't you write a truck themed love story between anon c and Cath like you've mentioned.
Oh, and it has to be good.
And 5000 - 15000 words.
Well- here is the thing- balls to you. I do not need to write a strory to probe that anyone can write a story- because anyone can write a story." Anyone can write out a story. That's not special. What's special is writing a good story.

The part where you said > Should I consider this a gift?
For a literary task that most students have accomplished many times by 6-7th grade, if not earlier. Writing a two page story inspired by a truck simulator game is not what most would consider "gifted". I mean, it's not like retarded or anything just a task any functionally literate adult of average IQ could accomplish. It would be like saying "I can do long division and fractions, should I consider this a gift?" Anyone can think of a story "out of their arse" as you so eloquently put it. Writing a good story with a well crafted plot and likable, well-rounded characters would be a gift.

Saying that something is unimpressive because "the average adult" can do it is just dumb...
You literally are saying "half of humanity's incapable of doing what you just did, but whatever, fuck you and everything you will ever do because it will never be good enough, some other person could approximate your work"

We know that he can produce a short story. That is hardly a talent, anybody can do it. What matters is whether the story is good or not.
It's like... Anybody can jump, right? But you can't say you're talented at it unless you're doing competitive long jumping. Or something to that effect.
Or would you say that anybody who can jump is talented? If you love Catherine that much, please just say right now that anybody who can jump is talented.

Some people are more talented at jumping, correct. Except for cripples, paraplegics, injured people etc . But can anyone ask on a forum if they are gifted at it?

I would say a lot more than that. You aren't even talking to me, but... anybody who can jump is talented.

Where do you get "half of humanity?" According to UNESCO, "the global adult literacy rate, for the population 15 years and older, was 80% for women and 89% for men in 2012." So, at least 80% of the people over 18 in the world can read and write. How is "half of humanity" not able to think up a short story out of their arse?

It's been almost 10 years, but progress continues. I am prompt hacking my way to an Amazon best seller trucker novel, one ChatGPT API call at a time. I will write you again when my great work is completed.
