The original summed up.
> "Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
There are four nations corresponding to the four classical Greek elements of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air set in a Far Eastern fantasy world. There is also a war that has been going on for one hundred years which saw the Air Nomads (Air Nation) wiped out by the Fire Nation.
> Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.
Within these four nations live people with the ability to use martial arts to manipulate the elements around them, but only this man or woman can wield all four elemental powers. The Avatar can also communicate with their past lives.
> A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang.
Narrative by one of the central protagonists of the story, Katara and tells about how her and her brother Sokka discovered the Avatar named Aang in an iceberg in the first episode. Without giving too much away, Aang vanished because he ran away due to not wanting the responsibility that comes with being the Avatar since this caused drastic changes in his life.
> And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone.
This sets up the main plot where Aang has to travel the world to master all four elemental powers so he can become a "fully realized Avatar" and stop a madman from conquering or burning the world thus ending the one hundred year war.
> But I believe Aang can save the world.
And I'll rather leave this up to you should you ever watch it. ;-)

She starts out the series as a teenage girl. Developing breasts wouldn't be a strange thing for her to do as she ages.

I imagine it differs between individuals. Kids notoriously develop different traits (facial hair, height, boobs, whatever) at different times. You didn't have that kid in your school who was the shortest kid in class until high school, when suddenly he's 6'3" and playing on the basketball team? Or that girl that suddenly got a rack over the summer? Teens. Growth spurts. Meh.

They aren't getting bigger, they're getting saggier. All that running around gives its strain on the boobs.
LOL I know rite. In Korra, the writers seem to have decided to establish how dangerous each season's big bad is by having them beat the crap out of Korra over and over until she suddenly triumphs in the season finale.
The original worked because Aang was a pacifist by nature and favored non-violent solutions, clever tricks, and running if no other option was available. Aang was being hunted by the fire nation, so running and staying one step ahead of them was a victory in itself. But then Aang could flip out and stop entire armies in the avatar state. Korra just seems to get beaten down at every turn, avatar state or no, until some chance turn of events leads to her opponent's downfall.

Yes, this has really been grinding my gears and is the reason I thought the original was a lot better. He didn't want to fight people but you usually got the sense that if he wanted to he could win. Plus that if he went into the avatar state it was badass and he would generally kick ass. Korra just feels kinda weak, even though she is older and seems like she should have more experience.

That might have been the point. They said Korra's was based on something in Buddhism where one must forego their ego. Korra at the start was very arrogant and headstrong when she still had much to master. Hell, even she admitted that she has more to learn.
