Does anyone have any suggestions? My budget is $50, though ideally I'd spend around $20-$30, and I prefer wired to wireless. THanks

I too prefer wired mice.

Office Depot has Allsop brand "high performance mousepad"s which are like the gaming mousepads at Best Buy. Get one.

Then get an Office Depot cheap $10 wired mouse. The good mousepad (which is washable unlike foam mousepads) will make the mouse track like an expensive mouse.
