The CIA admitted it, and politicians seem almost proud of it. How do you feel about this? I can tell you that torture is very ineffective, as people will say anything to make it stop.

I don't get why it's such a big deal all of a sudden. I mean, the info on black sites, waterboarding, gitmo, extraordinary rendition, etc, etc, etc has been out there for years now. What I'm disgusted with, I guess, is Obama's continuance of the Bush national security warfare state, completely intact. Drones, middle east wars, NSA wiretapping, at least one American citizen and countless foreign targets (and completely innocent foreign civlians) killed or on secret kill lists based on secret evidence justified with secret legal memos.

4mE its been over a decade since I walked the halls of Congress to lobby on stuff I used to lobby4 - I gained a great deal of respect for the System found lots of Congressman on Sunday busy at work sweating over work with office staff often working very long hours and the conditions up on the hill are really cramped n awful.
Even found people that I fully disagree with working very hard and wanting to make USA a better place to live in. But its just one monster of a machine and in the end its the > You can please some of the people some of the time - nor can you please enough of them to make the BODY of Them Happy
So Metæ contemplate this fact of life. Of your close friends and or people you know well enough - The family unit. Just exactly how well is it working? Around me I perhaps have to many friends. Some of my cynicism about politics/government working comes from how poorly Family units seem to work. Sure Mothers n Fathers crank out children. Doing so they often run in2 red on how to pay for all of it. Go in2 debt. Often Family Units fight with each other. Parents are often not up to the task to raise the kids. Mom n Pops often cannot take care of selves or divorce or drink or drugs
So When I look at just a group of close friends who whine about the family they came from - If a simple family struggles with life - How can we expect a Government comprised of such people to work efficiently
No question marks as I will not be around and perhaps I should make a topic about this when I return from my vacation - I just think WE expect to much of our leaders. If we had lower expectations?
Just something to think about. Met a lot of leaders on Capitol Hill - many I really disliked as having the opposite opinions from mine - Yet I learned to respect them because they were truly trying to make things better. Worked for one congressman who drank wayyyyyy to much - Also had two GF's at the very same time - Each was ok with the other. A marriage messed up in the process - Drugs - and the guy I worked for (A Texan) was of the opposite party as mine - But damn he done good/great/terrific/ and perhaps his GF's did even more better -
Family Unit is all it takes. Sometimes that Unit might not be so much respected if people really had a clue wot was up - If they did that Congressman wood never have been re-elected over n over -
