Ha, we sure have had this thread a few times. Not that that's a bad thing, though. It's fun to re-evaluate my favourites periodically, to see how they've changed.
I don't think I could do a true "all time" list, so I'll just list my current preferances. Right now, it looks something like...
1. Dragon Age Inquisition
2. Mass Effect 3
3. Skyrim
4. Fallout New Vegas
4. Dead Rising 2
5. Dead Rising
6. Halo The Master Chief Collection (probably cheating because it' s four games in one, but oh well)
7. Fallout 3
8. Oblivion
9. Europa Universalis IV
10. Medieval 2: Total War
Damn, I sure do love RPGs.

Demon's/Dark Souls
Diablo 2
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Morrowind
Smash Bros Melee(multiplayer on the couch)
Red Dead Redemption
Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
Medieval 2 TW
Dragon's Dogma

hard to put in order but i'll give it a go:
0. WoW. i'm not sure if it's actually my favorite game of all time but i've played it more and longer than any other game so i guess it is. but it's not.
1. Minecraft: the Minichanopolis days. Probably my best gaming experience ever.
2. Call of Duty: World at War - Nazi Zombies. Had more fun playing this with my brother and cousin than any other FPS game. We actually got so far (playing with legit tactics and not using "glitches") that we borked the game and the zombies stopped attacking us. it was like we got further than the designers ever though people could and so didn't bother to even see if round 45 worked.
3. Star Wars Battlefront: Loved this game, but needed space flight that was more and better.
4. Space Quest: all of them. if you haven't played them, they are great.
5. Leisure Suit Larry: Buying condoms and wine, fucking prostitutes, fighting bouncers, discos, gambling, and getting married in Vegas. I played this when i was 10 so it holds a special place in my heart.
6. GTA 1: goto tank - win
7. DOOM 2: multiplayer on LAN in the back of a computer store, double elimination tournament with entry fee and prizes. believe it or not the owner of the shop got a cease and desist letter from iD (who's headquarters were right up the street) because he was making a profit off the entry fees and sodas he sold. bummer. it was quite popular.
8. Independence War 2: First gaming PC i built i bought and played this game, it played perfectly because it was a year or two old when i picked it up, but there was nothing new like it (until Star Citizen).
9. Privateer: this one could have been in the top five but i never had a good enough computer to play it when it was new. I played it later and had a lot of fun with it but it was playing at 10-15 FPS at the time and so i couldn't make it far in the story because in the later missions so much was going on i couldn't play anymore and hit anything at the probably 7-10 FPS it was getting.
10. Phantasy Star: first RPG i played and i got really close to beating this one. I couldn't map the last dungeon on graph paper like i did in those days because of some reason i can't recall, and i was also scared of the dragons in there so i ended up not finishing the last dungeon or the last boss (who i was also scared of at the time.) I did try to get some help by calling a 1-800 number for GamePro or something and they did send me a copy of the last dungeon map in the mail, but even after waiting 6 weeks and not playing i was still too nervous to finish. I think also we got a Sega Genesis or something and i might have used that as an excuse to not worry about finishing it.
Games that were close and didn't make the list:
1. Time Splitters 2: monkeys vs robots capture the flag, real close call on this one.
2. Final Fantasy 7: the only one i played, but, i used a cheat book the whole way through and didn't let myself have to work at it. It was my roomates game and system and we... were not friends. after 3 months of playing he erased my save file just after i'd maxed my best materia and gotten the Ultimate Weapon. I was going to kill the last boss after the christmas break, instead i was arrested for misdemeanor disturbing the peace and almost charged with assault except that there were no witnesses and we were both found to be bleeding. He fucking started it though.
3legend of zelda games: never had a nintendo product, and so i never let myself love these games but i loved to play them when it was my turn at a friends house because they were long. Of course the later games were too long to take turns at so we'd stay up all night playing them trying to finish them. I never finished any of them personally but i'd seen it done.
4. Metal Gear: the first couple were great, the later ones got too preachy and full of movies and incomprehensible narratives.
5. Mario games: same as zelda, played them, never finished any of them, seen it done. Tried not to care.
6. Altered Beast: Fucking awesome game on the Genesis, but i couldn't get beyond the 2nd stage i think.
7. Fall Out 3: it was the only one i played, but i had fun with it. i did get tired of it though, i never finished it, but i got pretty much to the end.
8. Skyrim: excellent game, loved the far out fogless rendering and the game play was exceptional, but, i played this after playing WoW for years and so i think i was missing the multiplayer experience. Kind of tired of dungeon crawls, too. I never finished the main quest line, stopped just short of flying off on that dragon. but i love the female rogue trope in fantasy writing, so my rogue was furthest along. did do it once with her in some quest gear, i think the assassination kit with all my points in stealth, 1h dagger weapons and very few in armor or anything. i was minmaxing a stealth assassin and then when i had to fight 2 or 3 dragons and a bunch of mobs on that last run, well, i tried to stealth around them like i'd done the whole rest of the game, but no, they'd catch me and fry me quick. So, i needed either a better kit, which would take a lot of points in blacksmithing and a lot of work, or i don't know what. Anyway i didn't much care for the "dragon born" quest line, but i really liked the Assassination Rogue and Thief quest chains. I especially liked assassinating the princess at her own wedding. I slit her throat with a fucking dagger on the balcony on front of all her guests. it was beautiful. If the game had been more focused on that kind of game play i'd rank it a lot higher. What i'd probably like is a game all about hot female rogues. anyone know of any? I've seen Thief, but i haven't watched any game play and i bet it's a lot more about stealing than assassinating princesses. and i think you're a male thief, which is just a game about a stealing asshole.
9. Star Craft 2: I really enjoyed this game a i played it a lot, but it is not as much fun as it is stressful. I can play other games and just relax and when i'm done gaming i feel like i've had fun, but with SC2 i'd finish playing and need to wind down. I'd feel relieved, like it was a burden to play sometimes, there's so much to do and so little time and you can get stomped really badly if you don't bring your A game every match. You could certainly fuck around and try not to try-so-hard but it fucking sucked to get rolled hard by people playing their keyboards like fucking pianos. Fuck, i'm getting all wound up just thinking about it. 121212121341212121313212121213121212121312121212 Fuck!@ but hell, it was great fun stomping the ever living shit out of people, i've never been able to crush my opponent as hard as you can crush them in SC2. you can fucking embarrass people at that game with their bad-ness.
10. Microsoft Flight Simulator: fun for brief stints, but not enough to do once you're in the air imo. Sure, it's a sim, so once you get in the air it's basic navigational corrections and trim adjustments and that's about it, which is great, but you can only fly "smuggling routes from a jungle airfield in Columbia into US airspace" a couple of times before the 6 or 8 hour flight gets pretty old. Even flying 100m off the deck and following a heading by dead-reckoning it gets old pretty quick. What it needed were SAM missiles to evade and radar to fly below and US Border Patrol Helicopters to avoid. I also flew a lot of different aircraft from Dallas to Austin and Dallas to Colorado. My Favorite landing in Colorado was at Telluride, where you're in the middle of the mountains and have to land on a plateau. it's beautiful with weather conditions set to blizzard. also very hard. And flying alaska is pretty awesome too. What i'd really hoped to see was was much more modern day version with more distant geological areas rendered with high fidelity. It'd be awesome to fly the russian tundra with all the crazy topography and millions of acres of dense forests and vast lakes. With multiplayer i could fly all my friends in a commercial airliner 100 feet over the Brazilian rainforest or something, but no. Let's turn it into a 10k dollar flight trainer for pilots thats watched by the feds so that terrorists can't learn to flip dials and switches on a heavy aircraft in high fidelity with beautifully rendered and realistically precise maps. no, let's make the terrorists have to download windows XP and learn to do it all on the already released flight simulator 2000. (everyone who flies 747s in flight sims is a would be terrorist, btw)
scenerios were kind of cool though, you could make the game throw problems at you, like losing oil pressure or malfunctioning landing gear.
11. Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe: WW2 flight sim with dogfighting and i think bombing runs. anyway, you'd also get to steal and fly the Me163 Komet rocket plane.
12. 007 on the nintendo 64 or whatever it was. that was some fun distraction from book learning.
Games that might've made the list, or the list that didn't make the list, if i could remember their names:
1. Some game like a really old RPG where i played as a thief and could pick locks and go into people's homes and steal stuff. I could i think hide in some shadows or like pull people into an alley or mug them there i think. There was like a guild hall, or a thieves guild or something and i could play a minigame where i'd throw knives at a target, and then i remember being outside the city walls and doing something with an arrow i think, maybe reading a note pegged to a tree with an arrow? And then there was like a little blob guy shaped like a bean that was either blue or maybe flesh colored? and then there was like a road he was blocking or something?
2. an arcade game where i'd play as a warrior and i think there were other classes you could play too, but it was like Double Dragon but with better graphics, like Neo-Geo graphics, and you'd kill bats and skeletons and shit while your mom shopped for groceries. It was replaced by street fighter which i fucking hated. Fuck Chun-li.
3. some game written in pascal that you'd have to compile and run and it was 2 gorillas that would throw bananas at each other based on the trajectory and power setting you'd select. so like tank wars or whatever, and you'd take turns. me and my friend in computer science would rewrite bit of the game and made it better with swastikas instead of bananas and instead of just exploding a red dot over the gorilla we made the swastikas set the gorilla on fire. also the gorillas went from brown to black for some reason. it was a collaborative effort which i'm sure the administration enjoyed the next semester.

i don't understand why any of those games are important to you since there's no context. just the minichan one because that fucking jew room was god damned hilarious and it's jew-function fucking saved my life and our jew loot from being cannoned into oblivion.
