Don't know if you've been following but someone had been reverse engineering the whole thing. It's pretty interesting to see how it works and how far the 4canner got to breaking it. Than google cried and asked him to take everything down otherwise people with bad intentions will use it to spam and shit. + they asked him to show up for a talk at their HQ if he wants.

All that happened after 2 days of the new captcha being online lol. I wonder if google will keep hiring everyone who gets far enough in breaking it till the is no one out there to do it anymore...

Yeah I've seen all that. The stuff on google's side is pretty interesting, and while I'm sure there are some kinks to work out I also feel like they do know what they're doing big picture style. And hey, if it doesn't work out and we do suddenly get spammed (which seems unlikely because tehre are much much bigger fish out there using the new captcha system) then we can just revert back to something else.

Google is running a bunch of super sekrit javascript code that will assess a threat level. They check browser capabilities to detect bots and all that, also check if you have a google cookie with a trust score associated with that and some other shit

If you hang on to your uid/cookie you should rarely have to fill out a captcha though!

I don't like it to be honest tho... if captcha wasn't bad enough (digitizing content for free, helping them map house numbers etc...) now they also collect a ton of data about me when I solve it... I might pick up where the guy left if I catch a decent amount of time next weekend, I'm really curious if it can be passed by, or at least let it collect nonsense and just solve captcha...

What makes you think they weren't already collecting all that data on their google.com homepage or through the previous recaptcha system? They're just being open about it now. I do see your point, and I do agree somewhat, but most of the data they collect I feel like is either worthless or they have it already. The only worth would be browser fingerprinting, which is somewhat likely what they're doing too, but so many sites do that already. I would be surprised if google ads didn't do it already.

The standard YouTube and Google CAPTCHA is not readable by humans. You have to get software to read it. A lot of CAPTCHAs are this way--humans need software to read it. The software guesses it right 90% of the time too.

Just replace it with a quiz question about Kimmo Alm.
