I shared on MC a few weeks ago that I was in the market to hire a few good people - Takes mostly experience one gets from working for NASA with serious Unix experience and serious RF hardware hands on experience - Knowledge of RF amps to the design level part for part and Antenna spot beam technology experience. Telemetry - Gyro and Flywheel/Reaction Wheel experience is a major ++ C band L band S band experience a must. Wave guide design not required but sure wood be a plus. More for on location trouble shooting such as just where is the water that found its way in and how to get all that vapor out efficiently - Servo drives for 6 meter dishes and the will to fly to locations all over Planet Earth is helpful which is wot the old guys no want to do anymore - INCLUDING ME as I have had it with current Airport issues when carrying lots of electronic tools and arwful security issues that take forever to get on a plane
And the other open positions mostly filled requires working for Qualcomm - Verizon or AT&T with hands on equipment and software experience which also means serious Unix because ALL Cell/Telco systems are based on Unix as O/S interface. The positions are part time but pay large nuff so that those from NASA retired or Telco retired can do super well for 20 hours max per week billing
One of course has to have great references but frankly not a single NASA old timer has disappointed me YET. AT&T hires full time crap but the old timers who set up original Ericsson TDMA first system more then qualify and Ground based Cell work requires full experience on ordering back haul Microwave and multiple T1 connections which means hours on phone with providers to sweet talk them into connects and provisioning the coding for T1 lines.

Nor have I worked for them directly n indirect so many years ago not count for much but that sure told me I wood never ever do NASA work. I had hands on the very first moon lander and one tiny tiny very tiny part of it. Said to self wtf? Plus Space stuff frankly has to use very inefficient parts. There is one exception - Pumpkin does make stuff for Satellites that only need work for a year or so at max
For example Intel CPU multi core? er if its beyond about the first 486 technology then its just not going to last in space very long. Any good part is degraded with atomic blasting in advance on Planet Earth - Even plastic insulators end up conductive in space and if you close space a PC board to close or internal IC traces - You get Ion flow in space and really sweet looking bridges are formed from Gold and other metals then bridges collapse and short out next door neighbors connection. Then there was that simple diode where the connection had to much pressure and in space cosmic stuff added just nuff force over time to make a mess of the simple connection. I have a slew of S band amplifiers in Space I wood be happy to sell you. Plastic is shall we say all of a sudden conductive which is not so much so good for an output RF amplifier when the output RF gets fully back to the input of Amp

LOL nor do I want to work for AT&T and just wait till they C my new billing rate. Each year I make it really jump to try and get them to stop asking me for stuff. They will cry and whine but will end up paying PLUS they really should pay me a finders fee for some help I gave them with Qualcomm low freq spectrum - Assholes paid a couple of Billion for and the sat on it and sat on it - dumb as fuck company. But you can talk over text LOL - Them who can do both at same time as necessary for life
