Over on TC we have a Chinese fellow that Matt is more then aware of who speaks reads eats Chinese but in a very clean city of fame. British sensibilities
Because he can read school web sites without resorting to Google translate he keeps track of number of times Matt has been fired and its many many but Matt himself has posted here n SC and on Forum in China about how arwful schools adms have been 2him. One thing I am 100% sure of - He had no clue he was in a fight with someone he worked for via the forum. Its wayyyyy to small a community to be pissing in the pot next to a person you work for. But I do not have a clue wot got his hours cut which is the current way most schools get rid of people they no longer want.
Schools can just hire anyone who reads speaks English to teach - Web sites say all of China has about 40% English teachers without any credentials - Not any degree is ok if you are white. Backpackers on vacation rite about offers to teach and pay equal to anyone with a Masters degree. Its a common gripe on expat forums

Perhaps you can find out from Xiaoqing what she did and what happened when she found out.
Matt had claimed that he doesn't have many hours because he only works for $14/hr which is rare and won't work for $10/hr (the standard rate).
It's a shame Matt just abandoned the whole Xiaoqing shit when he was found out and refuses to respond to it.

Now it works out there is as in any teaching job the prep work and grading etc that ends up not being paid4. Back early on in my married days my wife was a Art teacher at a class act school system with one hell of a view of the Ocean in Palos Verdes Ca
She often complained about the hours of prep work so its a common rant for teachers. Lots of hours and little pay. Fact is Matt ranted to becky that he no longer wanted to teach because he was sick of doing that kinda work. But and its not me against Matt on this - If you look at wot he was going for - the PhD to be a Professor and that of course failed - with anyone getting a degree such as he got it does not lend itself to much other then teaching
Here on MC we have a member who is going for his Doctorate in Philosophy and n the past he has made fun of self re wot do you do with such unless you end up as a professor - But Philosophy is loaded with logic and rules that are great for business positions. Not easy stuff and I have met and worked with many such who do not teach and make a nice living and they enjoy the work. Includes the manager of a huge HR dept for a Genetics company. People do need to think about all those years in school and have back up plans. Kinda like an Art degree. These days great for Graphic art positions but my Wife wanted to stick with fyne arts in some arena and ended up selling a lot of stuff for a lot of money in private collections. I get offers for wot I have on walls all the time.
Yet most famous Artists of the past had no Degrees -
I stopped doing chat with Xiaoging but hey she is open to chat/mail so why not connect up with her on her Facebook page? Excellent English. Given she has made several visits with her real BF to the States you might live in a place she wants to visit - You could end up with a new friend - Now if you bring her to MC wood that be interesting - I was NOT about to give her links to SC where Matt was going on about her daily. Not with all the scat on that board.
