Me and my mom have a weird relationship. It is almost as if i am married to her even though saying it brings me shivers. We both work but she spends both of our money. Sure she buys the expensive food and cigarettes that i enjoy and also the money goes to rent.
If i stop this and finally gain some financial independence, it will come at a great cost, she will see me as someone who has stopped loving her. I also do not know if i would be strong enough for the task, i would have to say no to her when she begs me for money because she spent all of her money on alcohol, cigarettes and junk food. So i am wondering if there even exists a justification for all of it, because to finally become free, i must watch her die slowly in poverty.

There is nothing wrong with living with your mother: in most cultures, it is normal. Just talk to her, adult-to-adult, and set some basic ground rules.

That depends. If you're providing for your mother by paying the mortgage/rent, nursing her back to health, or something altruistic like that, that's normal. If you just moved in because you couldn't find a good job, it's pathetic.
