oh yeah, and by the way, syntax, i was right about how the future of cloud computing would include processing program instances on servers and streaming them to "screens" for any of our computing needs (including gaming) and you were wrong to say that would never happen.

before we know it we'll be paying for computer processing the way we pay for the internet and the two will be largely inseperable. bye bye desktops for the majority of everyone (within 10 years or less. watch.)

yeah, that's actually exactly the reason we'll all move to cloud processing. well, we'll be pushed that way and it'll actually make a lot of sense for the majority of people. Also it'll improve the quality of individual experiences for everyone who doesn't have the ability to ensure the quality on their own. it's what makes consoles so popular. not everyone can build and maintain a gaming PC, but everyone can buy a simple console that auto-updates.

that is ridiculous, most websites will build you a gaming pc and computers auto-update as well, most software does anyways

yeah, but with all the drivers and updating and building most people opt to buy something from Best Buy. so most people have shit PCs that can't play skyrim and don't even want to mess with anything more complex than prebuilt systems and consoles and if they could just stream everything over the web and let servers handle their processing then they will.
want to play the latest highest fidelity game in 1080p? no problem. then want to edit movies and need a lot of extra ram? absolutely, it'll just instance your software on better equipment or distribute it over as many as you need. it'll be really cheap too for 99% of everyone.
but you know some retards out there will spool up a super computers worth of processing and have tremendous data transfer/processing charges.

i guess but in my own experience people who just want a computer just opt to have one built for them, if they are going to use it for video editing/etc they tend to at least know a little bit about the mechanics of keeping it running well
idk though, i use mac and a pc, in my own defense though its because software i use is either pc specific or mac specific, sucks. I like macbooks as a laptop but i wouldn't go out and buy a whole new desktop (even though i have an imac) but when it comes to desktops pc will always reign supreme, cant beat the battery life you get on most macbooks though. I got an air a bit ago and it still holds a 15 hour charge whereas the last pc laptop i had was lucky if it stayed on for 4

i would love to have one of those. That's like my dream tablet, i've wanted something like that since i was probably 10. but it's like 3 grand and unfortunately i can't afford to work with one of those since i'm not a professional digital artist. If i was and i earned a living that way then i'd have one and it would be glorious, but as it stands it would be a really expensive toy that i just can't justify. with software and accessories i bet it's a 5 or 6 thousand dollar investment. i don't actually even own any legit adobe products. just an old student version i bought from school and some cracked newer versions.

So anyway let me splain it this way. B4 the internet most of us of the Dinosaur computer era has a dumb terminal - CRT and Keyboard but no brains internal to do any computing. Bach then in the very eary 70's we had Unix FTP and Telnet. No browser no GUI - just text and all the brains were down stream. Shocking but that was the Cloud as we call it today.
The more things change the more they remain the same. Just about every day I end up using someones supercomputer. All Satellite Orbit stuff ends up as Supercomputer stuff. Can take hours to crank out a minor change/request. Could get a quick approx answer but it its imputed then over time any error ends up getting multiplied to a point that all of a sudden a 6 meter dish is aimed at a point in the sky and the Satellite is at the edge and traffic is lost. Or not in view at all which means a call to NORAD with hey where did my Satellite go? No one and I mean NO ONE can find a missing object like NORAD.
What amazes me - back then people who could not afford the 12 inch B&W TV's bought 7 inch screens and added outboard a honking thick ugly magnifying glass to blow up the image. Yet 2day people are watching full HD Movies on smartphone screens. Or a somewhat larger tablet. I just laff.
So about the so called new Cloud. Its so damn old in concept and wot bothers me a great deal about this is - You and I would put all of are personal sensitive information on the cloud and can we really trust Amazon or Oracle? With the DOD and FBI computers hacked over and over - I think I will wait until that day when great minds decided to design a Web protocol that has multiple layers of protection. Its just not that hard to make intelligent large scale routers that can track the origin of a packet and b4 the full contents of packets is sent - a GEO and white/black list check. Yep a bit of added delay but if its not Voice and only data. Unless its data that a few added millisecs delay makes no diff -
I do see something on the horizon from IBM and others that may make it a cloud for a while and THEN - Supercomputers desktop - and sure the idea that the Cloud will eliminate need to update software client side - cept with updates crashing on occasion can you imagine wot happens when an update crashes a Cloud and you are running a large business.
Think I will be keeping my personal data like investments OUT of the Cloud for now - Even IBM employees find the current cloud good for customers but not good for in the know employees,
