well, the word preferring is an interesting choice of words since most people hold moral beliefs deeply and don't simply see it as a matter of preferrance. that's like saying "choosing to be gay."

Morality has nada to do with Religion or not. It is easy to prove Jesus was immoral. Catholic church is loaded with Pedophile Priests and those official's of the Church who protected their ability to remain Pedophiles.
Atheists can be equally immoral. It's just that they are not as well organized.

Where i come from, pedophilia was enabled significantly because of the peoples view of it in the past. I think the same applies to the church, the pedophiles seek out places with children in them
and it certainly seems as if the church is a promising place for them. Because i think the church has a old mentality, referring to the way they see pedophilia here. They don't see it as a disease that needs to be dealt with but rather as just another sin.

You got me to look up a quick review of old times. Gets complicated if its male on male in ancient times. Even if a slave were to end up freed - Master could still rape the slave because that was permitted. And slaves could never get law to help re rapes because rape of slaves was legal.

ancient times are horrible times. If certain genetics can contribute a favor among certain ideas, then its scary to look at the present day, a society with ideas evolved out of environments such as ancient times. The people that had minds that could easily bypass the horrors and see it as natural, they would surpass everyone in mental health.
