Best final episode in the history of television. I give the overall edge to BB but the whole last season of The Shield was amazing. Better than The Wire.

Ayuh, The Wire was excellent (coincidentally I just finished The Wire last night), but The Wire isn't on the same level as BB or The Shield, IMO they are in a league all their own. I'm starting Dexter tonight. I watch one episode of a show every night with dinner, and I only watch shows that are finished shooting, it's a system that really works well for me. Anywho, I'm really hoping Dexter will live up to the hype, I'm excited to start a new show.

I couldn't get into Dexter. It's not bad, just a little more comedic than I expected although I did hear it gets a lot darker in later seasons. I'm currently doing the dinner/show thing with Deadwood and loving it. It sucks that it didn't have a finale but it's good enough to keep me watching.

Deadwood has been on my list of shows to watch for awhile, but I keep avoiding because I know it's short and sweet. The HBO shows I've already done are The Sopranos, Oz, The Wire and Six Feet Under. I just noticed Boardwalk Empire is done, so that'll be after Dexter. Any opinions about Entourage, or True Blood? Neither looks like a show I would enjoy, but if a show is good the subject material doesn't matter much.

Heard good things about both but haven't watched either for the same reason. My girl was obsessed with True Blood and I managed to always find other things to do during that time. I've been watching Leftovers but am this close to giving up on it. It's still filming though.

I LOATHE waiting on new episodes, it really breaks the pace of the show for me so avoid shows that are still filming. There are a lot of good series that are done, and there are some excellent mini-series to work through.

Have you watched the Fargo miniseries? I really had low expectations and was absolutely blown the fuck away by it. Some of the best television ever. Period.

No I haven't! Is it completed, no more new episodes are going to be made?

My only complaint about The Shield is that the actor who played Ronnie waited until his last scene in the series to show he was a pretty talented guy.
"You're goddamn SORRY?!"
Damn I gotta give that show another spin.

There is in fact going to be a new season but it's unrelated to the first season.

Fantastic! Thanks for reminding me about Fargo. I had been keeping tabs on it, but it went off my radar for some reason. I think because of this @previous (dw !jdTkvovFCQ) I thought it got extended or some shit, but dw cleared up the confusion (thanks dw).
*Actually rereading dw's post I still have to wait, unrelated or not the series is still being produced.

I was always a bit irritated with how minor of a character Ronnie was at times, I think it bothered me so much because he was a core member of the strike team. I guess it was a necessary evil though, the other characters were so good and strong, they needed space to develop. Dutch alone probably could have carried a spin-off. Thinking about it there were enough side plots and strong characters to carry two separate shows. I can only hope to find another show as good as The Shield, I kind of gave it chance randomly, I don't remember anyone recommending it. I was hooked the first episode.

right, season 2 will be new characters and a new plot. for all intents and purposes it'll be a whole new show, just in the crime drama genre.
