Sadly, or perhaps thankfully, your opinion counts for little or nothing. You enjoy your right to express your mentally deficient opinions because of those who gave their today for your tomorrow.
If you don't like it you can always emigrate, perhaps, even hopefully, the sooner the better.

There's a better event to celebrate today.

@OP
You may wish to add an explanation of the holiday, for our non-British audience. And possibly check your CAPS LOCK key for proper functioning.

Thank you but no, it would only invite more stupid comment. Those who live in countries that had to fight for their freedom appreciate the sacrifice that the fallen made. Others, particularly Americans, rattle on about their freedom which is no freedom at all. Memorial day, or whatever it is called is little more than an excuse for a BBQ and a piss up. Sorry about the caps that were for emphasis.

It's meant to be a day where we appreciate and remember British soldiers who have died in wars.
Its symbol is the poppy flower, since they grew on some of the worst battlefields in Flanders, France during WW1. It also involves having a two minute silence in honour of said soldiers.

What causes you to say that? I normally refrain from calling you a prat and a scumbag troll, so I won't - but watch it or I will next time.

I see! We have something comparable on 11 November (Veterans Day, previously Armistice Day) and Memorial Day (the last Monday of May) though Veteran's day is for all veterans, whilst Memorial Day is for those who have died in battle. As Icarus duly noted, though, both have degenerated into occasions to go shopping and have barbecues. I'm wary of the near-worship of the military in this country, and highly doubtful that the American servicemen killed in the past two centuries "died for our freedoms" though their deaths are a tragedy and should serve as a reminder to avoid war whenever possible. It's really just senseless slaughter, and chickenhawk politicians who railroad the nation into wars of choice ought to face Nuremburg-style justice.

Wow. That really stung. You sure know how to tailor your insults to inflict maximum damage. I am literally in tears from that masterful assassination of my character.
