Silk Road 2, Hydra, and Cloud9. If you happened to have ever used any of those, then it may become time to worry. Especially so if you did not use end-to-end encryption on your conversations with your merchant, though it is unlikely the feds will spend time chasing smalltime buyers.
So this isn't as huge as the seizure of SR1, but still pretty huge. So far people are thinking that at least the SR1 bust has been done through old fashioned police work, instead of breaking tor which would be good. It is however quite suspicious they busted three markets on the same day.
However, the operator of SR2 has, supposedly, made the following rookie mistakes:
* Accessed servers directly, from home, and paid for these servers using his real name & personal credit card
* Paid for a $130K Tesla car using BTC earned from his comission at SR2 while having no other viable income
* Trusted moderators on his staff enough to either give them administrative privileges over the server, or he doxed himself to them. One of them was an undercover fed.
There are not many details on the other markets yet, the operator of Cloud9 has come out to say that one of their servers has been seized, but they personally are still fine for the moment.

Even if you did, you'd probably be fine. These busts generally only go after the operators of the site, and possibly some of the bigger sellers. I haven't used any of darknet markets for illegal matters either, but this is all very interesting!

People who ordered are probably fine, just on some list or something. It's the sellers who need be worried. Anyone who didn't see this coming is a fool, it was only a matter of time. You can't openly do that kind of shit, it just won't last.

If the buyers had any kind of sense they encrypted their info with GPG using the vendor's public key. It's uncertain wether tor has been broken, but if it has not been then most users will probably be safe. If it has been, then this is quite shit for everyone involved.

The claims by the feds are that they caught the operators by somehow identifying the server's IP address (probably by exploiting flaws in the server software), and then seizing the servers and requesting information from the service provider. The operators seemed to have assumed that their server would never be located, which is a risky bet.

It's not really that simple. I could maybe understand the case for lesser drugs like weed, but heroin, for example, really bad drug. There are some substances that should be kept away from people, for their own good.

In the old days you could walk into a chemist and buy heroin, morphine and cocaine as easy as buying aspirin and society didn't fall to pieces. I believe most of the problems associated with drug use are due to it's prohibition. The drug laws aren't stopping the hardcore addicts anyway, so it's better, I think, to let them buy clean, pure, heroin at a reasonable price than to have to steal to buy some krokodil and end up losing an arm or ODing on heroin of unknown potency and quality.

I don't think that just because they did something in the old days and it didn't destroy society makes it okay. Nor the fact that people can presently get it if they really want to.
Juat a blanket response of "LEGALISE EVERYTHING!" seems like an uninformed way to go about it, to me. I think the ideal way would be to evaluate each illegal drug on its likelihood to cause serious harm, and try to determine whether or not legalising it would cause more trouble than keeping it illegal.
I do think there's something to be said for legalisation, in that it allows regulation and takes power away from criminals, but I also don't think it's wholly good.

If we were to be honest about drugs, then it has to be all drugs. Not just demonizing things like heroin and crack, but actually looking at drugs like Pseudoephedrine and the harm it causes as the precursor to Meth.
The reason meth is a problem is because pharmaceutical companies are making so much money from Pseudoephedrine, and are lobbying as hard as they can to keep it legal for over the counter sales. Massive profits and the way those funds are channeled into the halls of power is and always will be the reason it is profitable to keep some drugs legal, and profitable to keep some illegal.

I still don't see why not, though. Again, you could buy Bayer brand Heroin at any chemist, or even mail order it just as easy as aspirin. Same with cocaine. If it was alright then, why is it so dangerous now? Of course some people abused it (just as they do today) but if we're going to have drug abusers in society (and it seems like we always will) I'd rather they legally abuse cheap, pure drugs of known potency and quality. As long as they harm no one else, it's their business alone. Is it detrimental to your health? Almost certainly. But then, there's no laws preventing me from eating a dozen doughnuts a day and dying young of diabetes, or drinking myself into terminal liver cirrhosis, or smoking myself into lung cancer so why should we kidnap peaceful drug users and sellers and lock them in cages and ruin their lives? It's abhorrent and makes no sense.

Alcohol and cigarettes are somewhat different, as they've become cultural norms and both have big businesses who rely on selling that stuff. But otherwise, I don't see why they couldn't analyse each sort of drug individually to make an informed decision. I just can't accept that it's a good idea to unleash a narcotic for public consumption without putting some thought into it.

Some RCS are great -- had some diphenidine last night and it was like a clarified ketamine rush. Really introspective and cool.
Also had some ethylphenidate recently which is basically Ritalin. Its great for focus, but really psychedelic at high doses. Destroys the sinuses though.
I've tried a lot of rcs--some good, some bad, some excellent. A lot need high doses though.
