Topic: Syntax, how did you get out of the Vietnam War and the Korean War?

Anonymous A started this discussion 12 years ago #38,011

You were certainly of a draftable age in both. Did you dodge the draft by running off to Canada?

HaikerensGuide !dBGi/iH4eY joined in and replied with this 12 years ago, 29 minutes later[^] [v] #509,150

Some say Syntax invented the term "conscientious objector" just to get out of the civil war.

Got up Late for me given great Halloween fun last night with friends - Costumes Music Dancing getting Flashed just luv that - except when gals boobs are fake just hate fake

Cannot surf today re lite storm for rare rain and surf it totally blown out just sloppy all over the water - looks great for effect yet no one can surf it and street run off of oil and tire leavings and leaves - So until bacteria is tested and lots of people from places that do such are on beach currently testing - No ocean for me today cept soon hits feet at LOW TIDE so shoes no get wet again

1st test I ran on MC was to LookC at Indy's exciting Fri evening rite here surfing MC - The Thrills of living in China on the Net - Nite life all on MC and view of SC clearly proves his sex is just scat sex net ses

So to answer the question - Draft - Yea that was monkey on all backs back as kiddlet -

1: Was employed at Hughes Malibu Research Labs mostly in R&D on Imaging Radar - Clutter tracking Radar -Synthetic aperture radar - Inverse aperture radar - Hughes corp in total at time was the largest recipient of secret 3 letter US Gov money, primarily cause Hughes was the only large electronic operation with no board of directors nor even any owner present to run interference - So super secrets were just easier to manage. - Gov literately called a meeting of key R&D team into conference room and said - We need XYZ, anyone here have any ideas and if so get off your ass and go do it for us.

Simple as that no kidding - NO CONTRACTS No worry about money - Money was never mentioned - US Gov wallet totally wide open - One day McNamara just under US Pres walked in and said HEY U guys have lab and flying experiments of taking photos with radar and word on street is you can see underground with it - Said I give you 2 billion bucks so go take some pics for me of Tunnels underground in Vietnam where Gooks hide and win war - I want Gooks to win war no more but we can no C them so YOU show me where they b

NO one with McNamara all in uniform asked can you do this - it was go do it - We as group by rules owner set were limited to a fixed 1200 people but we were free to contract ask force beg anyone else to join groups elsewhere as teams to do this n dat- Usually Hughes itself at Culver City Fullerton El Sugundo and Hughes had its own airstrip with lots of brand new fighter jets in development by General Dynamics - Lockheed and others - Hughes was big into Jet launched Missile's and the best Fighter jet radar systems money could buy. So I did many a hunt for brain power at such places AND one day was just SHOCKED to view a room sectioned off with sheets of Plastic n inside for all to see were Spacecraft of all kinds - Mostly R&D models - Satellites and this odd box like thing big as all shit being worked on to launch to Moon to see if Moon was in fact made of Green Cheese - Major concern b4 Men landing on Moon was wood they sink deep into Moon Powder/Dust

Surveyor 1 was end result and me being of sound mind and Kiddlet Ham Radio Geek said to self - Radar photos ya exciting cause object was to take a photo that looked as if from lense but with Radar that could see into clouds n snow n even through camouflage and even into a building and of course some underground - I found no limits nothing I could imagine more exciting based on all it wood take in complex circuits to do that. BUTTTTTTT SPACE CRAFT! WOW U got to be kidding me - Me a Si Fi Geek and rite in front of eyes SPACE - I could just say HEY I want in on that NOW

Simple as that I got my way - Given a design assignment by one hell of a Mathematician and Chief Science guy of Hughes Space - Don Williams - He became a friend and he was first for me to no as Suicide after he got all he wanted to do the first GEO Satellites and see them totally work as designed

Now was I happy doing SpaceCraft? HELL NO - NO WAY - One gets to do one design over n over n over to perfection - Parts available wayyyy behind the curve technology wise - In Imaging Radar R&D we did designs impossible to make work for years later as IC's had to catch up and b possible - For Space no new parts allowed - THEY had to have years of history - Old Technology no excitment - So I did complete a Telemetry system block for Surveyor 1 and assigned a team of others to do the boring details to complete and walked away saying NEVER EVER SPACE CRAFT for me - LOL I really did say that to self and friends - FOUND IT BORING as shit - So back to Malibu Research Labs

Now fuck all of you ok - Question asked n its up to me to rite a book and dare any of you to tell me its tl;dr cause day after day someone quotes some stuff buried deeeep down and then askes a question or makes a joke about it - So lie lie all u want to- U read or at least skim or do my Reading 101 course n turn the page

So all is well back at Malibu R&D and I am doing part time only cause Hughes sent me off to UCLA to get my degree (company stopped me from enrolling on steps of UCLA and said hey come to work for us and we pay all costs in total including full salary - You work for us we send u to school (including a full year at MIT for just one course from Irwin Jacobs who then moved to San Diego to Professor at UCSD and of course then founded Qualcomm) Was married by then and Hughes sent me and wife to MIT for just that one course - Damn fantastic Hughes - Also in that tenure with Hughes I was visiting Instructor at Brown University to teach one course in Imaging Radar - all per-screened students who too n passed course and hired by Secrete US Gov agency

Oh wait the question was: Syntax, how did you get out of the Vietnam War and the Korean War?

In a way I did NOT - In for more then I bargained4 - Wife and I figured I wood get drafted - DID Not want that cause with Ham Radio background my fate was cast in stone - Navy Army or Airforce wood force me to do Morse Code 8 hours a day for all them years drafted - As Kiddlet I had to learn it for 13 words a minute of dots n dashes to pass Ham Radio test - HATED it just hated learning n doing it. Hell ON EARTH for me wood be doing Morse code 365 days/year

Only option for me was to Enlist - I walked into Airforce recruit office n enlisted. With University almost done it was total promise of Officer school and on the job finish of UCLA or some other equal Uni - and some kind of Airforce intel work undefined - Singed papers was in and all I had to do was pass the physical - Went in for - passed its simple they check for hemorrhoids and look at feet to see if flat and dats all I remember.

I was in Airforce shook hands and then a Major takes me by my shoulder and says Son we need to talk! - You name on list as no you are not eligible to join! Y I say - he says no can tell you but you on list as critical to nations defense as u work for Hughes on TOP PRIORITY PROGRAM. Go speak to resident Air force Colonel at Hughes - I go he says SON U on list I say yea you mean the Imaging Radar thing and he says Son no way - Surveyor I and I say wot wot wot - Its not even a classified anything Not secrete not for US protections like Imaging Radar and he says SON its on the list as vital

I SAY but I quit that gig not even on it anymore and the deal is - At some point u all change ur mind and I get drafted and then do MORSE Code for like 4 or more years. He says no problem - Let me get form XYZ and Garanteee u b free of Draft rest of life

So there u have it - NO U FUCKING DOOOON'T - I end up going to Viet Nam anyway - Hughes sends me off to Marine Basic training which I flunked and took a 2nd time to pass - I was in ok shape but not in shape to be a Marine - then off to Survival School - I passed that at top of class - and then back to Hughes to get in rear section behind pilot of brand new not even in service yet for Military use NOT certified as safe and still with engine fails - Hydraulics fails - Plane without even a gun to protect self - Missiles for were still in design nor was room for cause we loaded it up with external antennas and jam packed it with breadboard imaging radar to go look for Tunnels in Viet Nam by flying wayyyyyy to to side over ocean n such to not avoid being shot down but technology for Synthetic Imaging Radar only works at sharp angles to object one needs to take photo of

Also flew in DC-3 which we used in Culver city area to R&D the designs - had one which I was in which crashed in2 Cambodia - Me survive others with me not -

U ask I answered n at worst if anyone got all the fucking wayyyy down here as I am doing Multi-tasking with work product for Verizon stuff of future 2016-2018 technology IF and only IF Snapdragons have the power to pull it off n for sure by 2018-19 they will - Qualcomm ya no is #1 supplier of Chips for Cell phones n tablets n Ipads n SmartPhones n word on street is for a new invention that is totally pure fucking wonderful Eye Candy MAGIC

Mostly being paid4 by Google/Qualcomm n hope u pay attention cause its based on my standing in line with 1000 others to try in breadboard form - was exciting just fantastic just amazing just beyond wot words could describe if i could rite such words nor wood editor help in this case

SO sure of course I say

When such questions are put b4 me as is more often the case then expected (other 4ums I hang at)

I generally reply with more about one year back then or more detail such as I did not mention brand of jet which drives people nuts when I do cause they do Google lookC and say buuuuut such aircraft was not even released or in production re time line LOL

Then I remind them ya so true but given one does not release a brand new jet without it tested in flight with full radar and nav and all dat communication and of course the rockets they fire with war heads - without a few years or more of testing/working on/ Oh it was F-14 of even some form that was more a bread board itself with even a diff engine then the final production model

Me not much of a flyer n will NEVER EVER put hands on controls - butttt on simulators did and 100% of time crashed landed on aircraft carrier - Never once made a decent landing

Helicopter sims were totally fun and one day might give that a go but I also crashed way to many times with those on take offs

I had no clue when it started or when it ended but on 1st G click up on top it says
"On December 1, 1969, the Selective Service System of the United States conducted two lotteries to determine the order of call to military service in the Vietnam War for men born from 1944 to 1950. These lotteries occurred during "the draft"—a period of conscription, controlled by the President, from just before World War II to 1973."

Mount McKinley.
Had a ticket in wallet for 1st base camp at Mt Everest
Prior to McKinley my climbs and those for the most part were back pack ventures not rock climbing cause no way have I ever started at bottom of 14,000 foot mountain and gone all the way to top by Rock Climbing including with full hardware -

McKinley was terrific wonderful wood like to do it again but never ever can. Everyone with me got altitude sick - and people die quick from - I did not but I also knew something was totally wrong with body -

Got back home hit docs office and with lots of test discovered that the bottom parts of my lungs - My lungs re years of exercise are terrific as can b- I can take a lot more Oxygen in then 97% of population - BUTTTTTTT and this is critical - one has to get the CO2 out. My lungs fail to do that and Y u going to ask anyway

For years I grew up watching TV in living room with my parents - And Mom back then smoked Cigarettes. So my lungs end up as smokers lungs with inability to release the C02 efficiently

Works just great at 14,000 feet. Just made it at 20,000 - Of many many climbs to many 14,000 feet mountains - Never once altitude sick but many friends do

AND THE One mountain I wanted to climb Mt Williamson which once was thought to be highest in Calif - turned out NOT - But from Hwy 395 IT SURE looks like it is - let me dig up a photo

Tried 3 times to do this one and each time Lightning and or storms drove me back - I want to die trying one more time to climb Williamson in Sierra Nevada's
