Really cool that a mystery this old is being solved finally! I wonder how long they survived as castaways? Hopefully investigators can find enough evidence to tell the whole story. It's a bit of shame how long this is taking though, haven't they been finding clues in that area for over 20 years?

a year or a few ago a dude was looking at a place and found lots of clues on a small island -someone was stranded there, for sure, and there were some artifacts that earhart would have had reason to posess, but there was no smoking gun. no airplane, no human remains. but they were planning on going back to look under water for the plane. it was interesting. it's possible they landed and had battery power to transmit for a week or two, and people reported back then hearing a "hoax" on the radio, someone claiming to be earheart calling for help. then, one day, it stopped. presumably the battery died or the plane washed away. whatever happened, they didn't appear to live for long. but, maybe a month or two.

also what's interesting is that apparently rich people are funding another expedition in exchange for a place on the team.

rich people expedition tourism?

uh, no, it was a desolate coral reef just high enough to make a small atol. no trees, no edible vegitaion, constant exposure to the elements, no fresh water. sure you can live like that for a bit, eating dead birds and crushing turtles and whatnot, but they wouldn't have had anything to build a shelter with let alone fuel fires for more than a few months.

i think they lasted less than that.

and to make it even funnier she was apparently able to communicate with people by radio but when she said "i'm amelia earheart and i'm on an island come help" people were all, "lol, stop trolling and get off your dad's radio stupid kids."

Damn tell you all wot. Read or skim this wiki as I just did

There is even a Falklands. Gibraltar very much Gibraltar connection and people have moved to the island to make a go of it. Says place has a profound drinking water problem and that wells have solved that however that was just after Amelia crash landed.

So it looks like she had all she needed except for drinking water.
