It's usually not a personal crisis of your significance in the world that drives people to suicide. It's usually illness or addiction.

I have nothing. No meaning in life. No purpose. I could literally do anything I wanted in theory. I have no ties and no plans keeping me anywhere.

I can't do shit though. Not right now anyway. Severe mental illness isn't just feeling down everyday. You feel defeated. You don't want to do anything. It's not something you can understand unless you've experienced it. Shit like this just shows you are clueless.

Everything you said is worthless to someone considering suicide.

This is why the only way to help someone who is suicidal is to get them to a real professional for help. If you have to stay on the phone with them to keep them from suiciding long enough to convince them to let you call someone for them (911 -- seriously) you should.

An existential crisis can lead to depression and a slump, sure. Most people though have real serious issues. You don't believe they are really suffering because you haven't been there.

It's suffering everyday. Imagine trying again and again to find someone to love r hold onto and not being able to.
