as for the question in @OP, the things religious people bring themselves to do in the name of their religion are quite extreme. They seem to be fine forgetting about sins and such when it's for "a good cause", e.g. the crusades.

What i am implying is that despite the popular idea that people are naturally good, everyone agrees that if the world had no laws, then the world would be worse off. So isn't the belief in hell the ultimate idea of the law, a self regulating law, where the police sees everything and anything you do.
