My freshman year of college, I sat next to this guy named Alex. I didn't know he was gay. I didn't care if he was gay. I was just talking with the guy. Then he started giving me this strange look, as if he was trying to figure out whether I was gay or not.
Just because I was sitting next to the guy and talking with him doesn't imply that I was hitting on him. The following year, he invited me to a table he was sitting at in the dining hall.
He started mentioning guys he thought were attractive.
I mentioned to him that I felt uncomfortable.
He and his friends kept mentioning gay stuff. So I took my tray and left.
Honestly, a friend of mine came out to me as a lesbian in middle school. I wasn't particularly conservative on gay issues. I supported civil unions for gay people in 2004. I would have supported gay marriage if people weren't "gay" around me...
To be honest, I don't like gay guys asking me if I am gay. I don't like gay guys hitting on me. I don't want to see gay guys kiss. I don't want guys making jokes around me about being gay.
You might ask if I am Republican. The answer is no, I am not Republican. (I did take a blood oath that I would never vote for the Republican Party.) I am a registered Democrat. However, having found gay people to be annoying, I don't feel bad for gay people on gay rights issues, and feel less inclined to support them in their fight for equality.
So Scott, if you're asking how I can be a Democrat that doesn't support gay rights, imagine you were a straight guy that has been constantly hit on by gay guys, had people mention "gay" around you, and constantly had people suggest to you that you were gay when you really were not?
I haven't gone to gay bars, have never hooked up with a guy or had a boyfriend, and have even masturbated to ejaculation to straight porn 407 times to demonstrate how non-gay I am.
The more people talk about gay people, looking gay, being gay, or acting gay, the less I like gay people. Your fellow gays and supporters of gay culture have not made me like gay people more. Instead, I like gay people less.

But no. Gay people mentioning being gay, straight people mentioning acting gay or looking gay... I am sick of gay people, hearing about gay people, or seeing gay people! I don't care if gays are discriminated against. I don't care if Christians say gays are going to hell. I don't care if Jews think gay behavior enraged God and caused the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. I don't care if Muslims think homosexuality is a sin. I don't care if gays are beat up, made fun of, or threatened. I don't care if gay people are killed. I am not gay, and if gay people suffer, it sucks for gay people.
Mentioning gay around me isn't going to get my sympathy, my support, or my vote.
And no, I will not be a Republican. You know why? I am not white. I am Indian-American. I am Hindu. I support higher taxes to solve the United States' fiscal deficit. I support legalizing marijuana even though I have never tried weed. I support multiculturalism and love conversing in different languages like Hindi, Spanish, and Punjabi instead of worshipping English. I support a separation of Church and State and think the use of the word "God" on our coins and our Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. I support environmentally friendly technology and the reduction of fossil fuel emissions. How am I Republican?
Supporting gay rights would seem natural. But with so many people mentioning "gay" around me, "gay rights" is a liberal issue I don't care for.
And do you want to know my sexual history to ascertain whether people are mentioning truth or bullshit around me?
I had a girlfriend when I was 12 years old. I got to third base with her. I felt her boobies. I was thinking of fucking her when I was 13.
I lost my virginity when I was 24 years old. I had 2 female sexual partners when I was 24: one whom I had sex with without a condom, and another who I had sex with 4 times, 1 of which was up her ass.
I have never had a crush on a boy. I have never had a boyfriend. I have never even asked a guy out.
Even more, I lived in a city away from home and away from my parents. If I were secretly gay, don't you think I would have visited a gay bar? Tried to have a boyfriend? Hooked up with a guy? I was living in a city hundreds of miles away from where I had lived. Who would have found out?
And yet, even in this location, I never went to a gay bar or even tried going to a gay bar. Even if I was living at home with my parents, why wouldn't I have tried to arrange a hookup or a tryst with another guy over the internet? With the anonymity the internet provided, finding a gay hookup or fuck buddy would have been easy. And if I were afraid of getting caught, I could have arranged with the guy to drive the two of us to some far off location so no one would see us.
However, I have never had a gay hookup and never tried to arrange for a gay hookup over the internet. I never went to LGBT chat rooms. I never went searching for gay communities. I never went searching for gay love or gay friends.
Why?
Because I am not gay. I am straight.
And no. I am not going to "try being gay." "Gay" isn't a cuisine that can be tried and sampled like at a sushi bar. "Gay" and "straight" have a lot to do with how my penis feels around boys and girls respectively. I have not had a sexual fantasy about a guy in my entire life. Trying to be gay would involve kissing or touching a human being that I had no sexual attraction for.
Why would I want to do that? "Trying to be gay" sounds like it would be awkward and unpleasant.
And if my penis rises when I see a hot girl, wouldn't it make more sense for me to "be straight" and try more "straight experiences" such as touching and kissing human beings I have sexually attraction for? Even if someone thinks "gay" is like a cuisine, why would I try it when I am much more interested in heterosexual sexual experiences? If you were at a sushi bar and didn't like salmon but loved crab, which sushi rolls would you try?
The worse part of the "try to be gay" meme are its similarities to convincing gay people to be straight, whether through force, coercion, or therapy in which gay people try to become straight. Many people, whether they be liberals, psychologists, or activists have spoken extensively about how these methods aren't successful, and biologists have been citing DNA and genes as providing answers to why some people are gay and why others are straight.
Isn't someone insisting to a straight person to try being gay just as bad as insisting to a gay person to be straight? The very suggestion is at odds with liberal movements that allow people to be what they want to be, whether straight or gay, without trying to conform to society or other people.
Trying to promote a gay culture that discriminates against straight people is just as bad as a straight culture that discriminates against gays. Asking me to be gay agains and again is going to lead to one less signature on a gay rights petition, one less friend for a gay guy (I have taken a blood oath to never befriend gays), and one less person defending gay people against the rancor of evangelical Christians and socially conservative Republicans.
If I saw an evangelical Christian or socially conservative Republican criticize, berate, or excoriate a gay to the point of tears, do you know what I'd do? I'd walk away. Let the gay commit suicide.

Got old sick out of service Satellite up and running and surprised the owner but now not so much buttttt will trip circuit breakers inside that old beast and get other parts to do the deed or will go down trying with embarrassment as my first fix has failed to make the grade
