The week began on a good, green note and then went on a bit of a darker, less happy midweek ugly weather jag. Things started to pick up again on Thursday when the dreary ugly weather broke and then Friday came with a fantastic blast from China's forgotten past.
The Kunming government released a low-carbon economic blueprint. Highlights include encouraging green industry to relocate to the Spring City and more money for Dianchi Lake rehabilitation efforts. With China's drop in forecasts this is going to be on hold again.
One of China's largest real estate developers, Agile Property Holdings, is in serious financial trouble as its CEO languishes under house arrest. At issue are billions of dollars sunk into Yunnan resort projects that authorities now believe were secured through nefarious backchannels.
The province's top communist official was somewhat startlingly dumped out of office on Tuesday. He is not under investigation for anything — as far as anyone knows — and he seemed to be doing a fairly decent job. Where he lands next is completely up in the air.
