it is, becuase dogs are a man's best friend. and you don't eat your best friend. also cows are adorable as veal, but when they get older they don't do shit. they don't hunt, they don't keep your barn free of rats. all they do is eat and fart, and most cows can't even work as a beast of burden.
dogs and cats have utility as companions and working partners. cows have utility as food.
