Topic: Matt, if Food Ergo Love had such a short life, how can we trust The Miller Guide to be here...

Metæ started this discussion 12 years ago #36,891

For the long run? Your projects (to wit: GHOUL and Food Ergo Love) are intersting concepts but lack staying power. You need more stability if you want to be taken seriously. Take Food Ergo Love, for example. I read the blog and enjoyed it, but all of a sudden it just dies, with no warning, no notice, it's just dead with an expired domain. Why? What you should have done is kept Food Ergo Love, but as a part of the Miller Media Group and and folded it into the Miller Guide. Build up a portfolio of brands delivering locally tailored content.

Just a thought.

Legitimate food pamphlets don't plagiarize food safety symbols and pass them off as their own.

He spent the time to download and crack the latest version of Photoshop to draw a blue square, a white circle, a single letter, and a copypasta SVG.

I'm pretty sure MAtt is incapable of this without making 5,000 posts on MC about how to crack Photoshop on his Macbae; you are giving him wwwaaayy too much credit. GIMP or Inkscape will do SVG alterations on the cheap.

This is true.

I wouldn't hold the logo against him. The wine glass and fork symbol is not copyrighted and is a universal symbol for food. The logo gets the point across that the blog has the initials "M.G." and is about food. Maybe once it gets established, Matt can always hire a graphic designer to make a fancy one.

What I'm worried about is, will it be a long term thing?

Is six months "long term"?

All World Class™ Food Pamphlæ (pronounced as one word) are known to exist for at least 15 years.

Matt's partner is Yan Xiaoqing on the guide. Says so:

Matt has said she is also his girlfriend IRL so she hopefully will push him to finally finish it.

I know her recent baby takes up some of her time but I think she can make Matt finish his work.

I think, honestly, he's a good food writer when he wants to be and I think he is motivated this time. Whether or not the business model of a Zagat/Michelin guide for Kunming will succeed financially is anyone's guess.

He bought a hotdog business a while back and that didn't go anywhere. I don't know if he did much work on it.

I know someone who did a tour around there and also said China has so much pollution. I really blame the Marxist government for that stuff. Non-commie countries in East Asia are much nicer.

He also abandoned his baby soon after it was born!

Bear in mind it was a fake baby, but the trolling was excellent and it was so sad so see it abruptly end.
