Second Wave Feminism is opposed to the role of stay at home moms. Third Wave Feminism is more okay with stay at home moms, so long as the decision is consensual and the outcome is fulfilling and equitable.

I can agree with you, though. It would be nice if, assuming that one day the issues of discrimination against women were properly addressed, that an outlook like that could become more prominent.

What about the double standards in advertising? Take almost any tv commercial, reverse the gender roles and decide if there is any way you would be able to show it without being labeled sexist or a misogynist. The only thing a woman can ever be accused of in advertising is loving too much while men are portrayed as bumbling incompetent fools.

I'm not sure that's really due to feminism. Yes it applies a negative stereotype to a gender, and that in itself is wrong, but I don't see that as being caused by feminism. The traditional gender role has always been that women are the ones who are better at domestic duties, long before feminism became a thing. This is just advertisers trying to appeal to women (who are their target audience) by playing to those gender roles in a positive way.
And, you know, it certainly does go both ways. Think of those Lynx adverts, where women are reduced to devoted admirers of a man just because he put on some deodorant.

I think the reason is simpler - women control most of the small-item buying decisions in households. Which is where the majority of advertising is directed. It's just corporations' self-interest at play, IMO.
