I'm not at home and where I'm at has no internet, so I'm 'borrowing' some local wifi. I'm using an ALFA AWUS036H adapter on Windows 8 and the signal is great, five bars at most times. I'm connected at 24.0 Mbps but I'm often hitting max speeds of 0.14 Mbps.
Annnnnnnd it's Hughes net. I definitely jacked their monthly bandwidth by now, it's gotta be getting throttled. Oops. Let that be a lesson for us all. Shit. I better lay off for a bit.

I doubt this is the case but they could have rate limiting set up for MACs other than their own devices.

Ks here, on another connection (gotta transfer my ID card thingy). I used to have WildBlue satellite internet when it was my only option, once you hit your data cap (mine was 15 GB) it was throttle city. I did not consider the possibility that I was sapping satellite internet (I should have since I'm in the boonies), anyhow I had torrents wide open (on a schedule late at night and off at 4AM) and the whole nine yards. I'd be surprised if I was using less than 8 GB per day.
I have a mobile USB modem with a 5 GB monthly limit, I'll have to make that suffice for a bit. They didn't have any MAC address throttling specified in their router settings.
