i'm wondering if there would be any benefit to installing my 570gtx as a dedicated physics card. i'm not sure about 2 things, i have a 750w psu and i think it might not be enough to handle both. the 980 is supposed to sip power and so accoring to websites my setup should be using around 400w and with a 570 in there too i'd be pushing 550+, and there's no telling what my true consumption is. i could try, but i don't want to damage anything. also i guess you don't sli two different cards, i think i just plug it it and set it as the physics card.
i could try that... but i'd be more comfortable if i knew i had the watts for it.

wow, titan fall is pretty fucking fun, i gotta say. love the evacuation mechanic in attrition. Even if you're losing you can "win" if you can evac. kinda neat.
so the gtx980 absolutely obliterated that game. 60fps no matter what i threw at it. 8x msaa antialiasing, trilinear titilation, double v-sync buffering and all the textures. it took it like a champion.
i could try it on higher than the native 1920x1080. i bet that would do it. 3980x2440 whatever it was put Black Flag at 30fps. totally playable, but you could see the stutter a bit.
and no bluescreen. so far i'm very impressed with this card. about the only thing giving me any trouble is Star Citizen, but that's starting to look like driver issues or something on their end rather than mine.

okay, so i've got a multimeter hooked up. I'm drawing around 100 watts in idle, and no more than 350 under load. I think i've got the overhead to install my 570 and try it as a dedicated physics card.
oh yeah, so i did that, and with the 570 installed i was drawing around 200 at idle and upwards of 600 under load. but it turns out that most games don't support physx (oops) and so the card just idles in most games. It idles and adds heat and costs a lot of power. anyway, the 980 doesn't need the help. it does just fine on it's own.
I've heard the 900s have downsampling options, i.e. run a 4k res game on a 1080p monitor, as a solution for crisper shit without antialiasing
have you used that at all yet?
