er not even close. On the other hand I could have without even trying. Founder of Qualcomm Irwin Jacobs was my Uni Engineering Prof wayyyyy back and I took classes from one of the other co-founders. Both offered me a nice position wayyyy back b4 Qualcomm was even on their minds. That would have put me in a position to end up in Mega Millions BUT the products that were being developed at the tyme left me just COLD - First it was modems for Super secure Satellite communications shit which frankly were classy Modems which in no way turned me on. Company was called Linkabit and founded by both Jacobs and my UCLA Professor Viterbi. I ended up taking classes from Viterbi at both UCLA and USC way back in 60's and all paid for by Hughes Malibu research labs. Classes with Jacobs were at MIT for just his class and UCSD later on. Most students were offered jobs with stock options. Just wayyyyy to boring a product and then when they formed Qualcomm the founding product was clearly NOTHING I wanted anything to do with.

OmniTRACS which was the founding product of Qualcomm for me is more a Yawn then just about anything I could imagine working ON YET Those who did take the job offers ended up making quick Millions just a very few years later with those stock options.

AND Frankly even from the GetGo the CDMA development which I gave serious consideration2 JUST was not enough to get me stirring to join them - BUT BUT BUT When they started talking about building Satellites of many many and launching them with wot was then a most Fav consulting client Verizon (then called Air Touch) I jumped UP AND SAID YES YES Cause I could not imagine a more fun and more tech advanced thing to work with play with and and

BUT and this is how it works - Early bird gets the Worm! I did way more then OK with my Qualcomm stock options and I mean super well but NADA By comparison to wot I would have picked up As a founder of the company cause not only did Stock Skyrocked up n spit n split and keep on splitting - IRS has far better rules for founders then those who come AFTER.


Bottom line was/is I got stuck with ATM which if you look up is bizzare as to how much IRS takes on gains NOR Do they on Founding Stock options!!!!

Yet by holding OUT till company decided to produce a Satellite system I had worked on back at Hughes Later as a consultant - Like US Gov did all the hard work on so much that one could take just for free cause a couple of drug users at TRW blew the super secrete program Hughes n Founding Qualcomm was working on and when kids walked in2 Soviet Embassy in Mexico City the AGENCY SAID NO WAY WE GOING WE Maxwell smarts shoe phone for real.

Program dead on arrival at Soviet Embassy and all for a platry $5,000 bucks. A movie about such was made Falcon and the Snowman BUTTT at tyme prodcers and writhers had not a clue what secrete the kids turned over to Russkies.

Later Qualcomm said ok Gov no care but so much engineering is DONE to completion and what a platform in space CDMA would piggy back on. Almost 100 Globalstars up there NOW - OF course so many are on the worn out side but then again 1/2 of them are all brand NEW very much so

Proof of tracking Aircraft using such was just shown in private and was made public yesterday or today - A new world of Wi-Fi is about to happen using the system and the damn thing is worth even more then value of hardware on Spectrum alone.

Alas I made and still make lots n lots but if only Jacobs and Viterbi, jumped on going Globalstar instead of tracking trucks on highway! They went that route to make quick cash and that worked but the very Idea I wood spend my engineering tyme on tracking Trucks? Even though it does use a Satellite its still a YAWN for me.

Needed a new copy of Principles of Communication Engineering by Irwin Jacobs and picked one up few weeks ago at UCSD and its still a popular book which goes back to 1965.

For the most part I spent my tyme using the principles of CDMA to take photographs from Space and very very cool high res photos they are and one can take photos in rain fog and even C through tents and from Space UNDERGROUND - Yep underground from Space and how odd that is given tunnels keep being found near my border and Israel had no clue there were Tunnels near by until recent war? Boggles my mind re open Technology that even Israel can gin up and use just as I did prior to space based by just flying OVER high up so as to not b shot down

Given by law I had to dump original stock options a few years b4 Obama did his good deed - I got stuck giving IRS a few Million bucks.

Now to be fair about this - Not once in the many years I worked for them and now they remain a most worthy CLIENT - I never met one Engineer who paid attention to Stock Options - Honestly when they were first offered AS IF I should jump up and say thanks - I had no clue wot the fuck they were.

But when stock split n spit and wood do in like 4 Splits at a tyme and then 4 more and stock wood climb back up to same amount but be worth 20 tymes or 40 wot I got it for - ONLY When the H1B Visa people who are the Majority of the company as employees - They all started out buying $100,000 or $350,000 cars and news crews from all over USA arrived to take pics of parking lot antics. None of us white guys bought such cars. Not a single one!!

But must admit all of a sudden we had a clue wot stock options were worth. And even almost best of all spin offs like Leap Wireless aka Cricket now AT&T gave all of us new options which did NOT carry the AMT - Cause we were counted as FOUNDERS LOL
