fucking tits.
so there are 2 or 3 new ships to fly, the 350r (a racing tuned 300i) and the m50 (a dedicated racer) are available, and also i think the avenger is in engine as well. it's an interceptor, like a bounty hunter ship.
also there's a racing mode now available as well as team co-op PvE and competitive co-op PvE, private matches, friend lists and new hangars.
the hangars are fucking amazing.
also the devs have redesigned the ship's in flight computer which allows for rotational and translational movement at the same time, the great "6 degrees of freedom" that everyone has been asking for. speeds have doubled, weapons targeting has been improved and in general there are a ton of fixes that have improved everything.
oh yeah, track ir is now supported, there's better profiles for more hardware inputs, and we've got leaderboards now so we'll be able to see how we stack up against other players.
lots of streamers are giving away free ships and alpha packs, so check out twitch and follow people for a chance to get in the game for free. (stream giveaways range from the $45 package up to several hundred dollars worth. and your odds range anywhere from 1 in 30 to 1 in a few thousand. way, way better odds than just about anything. i came in second in one, lol.) so check that out if you want.
registering on the forums is free and there are announced stream giveaways there. also, TEST, the org i am currently in, is giving away a $115 m50 racer on badnewsbaron's stream and they'll be doing more giveaways in oct-nov as we get more game patches and functionality.
CIG, the devs, were at dragon con and gave everyone a free code to play the game free for a week and i forgot to mention it here :( sorry. but i hear they'll do it again after PAX australia and i'll make sure to post the code here so if anyone wants to try it for free you'll get your chance.
so go check out BadNewsBaron's stream on twitch and check out his giveaways. also i'll be streaming later so if you want to see something specific and you see i'm online join my chat and let me know. i'll be playing with racing, the m50, and the asteroid hangar tonight and i may melt the m50 and trade it for a 350r and race a bit with that too. we'll see, the m50 is fucking cool as fuck, if i do that i'll probably trade back and keep the m50. it's sexy.(Edited 48 seconds later.)
@497,079 (B)
i'm a little drunk is all. becky.
evidently i was wrong about the avenger being in, it's almost ready and will be in the next patch along with others. i think all the single seaters will be in by 1.0
then it's on to multiplayer ships with internal physics which means zero g FPS style combat and boarding actions. basically the coolest fucking thing ever.
Hey walter. You like top gear. Here's something you'll enjoy
Star Citizen spoof of Top Gear(Edited 39 seconds later.)
DLC citizen...
@previous (HaikerensGuide !dBGi/iH4eY)
how do you mean? there won't really be DLC.
once the game is out you'd pay for it $40 or 60 or whatever, and then there's nothing else you'd have to pay for. Everything will be earnable in game in a standard kind of MMO fashion. there won't be a subscription fee either. The devs do plan on selling in game currency for cash to support servers and continued development, but the have specifically said they don't want to sell content. there is a possibility that they will continue ship sales because there will be a limit to how much currency you can buy per account per month. but they are, at the moment, only doing ship sales to support the development up to the release of the full game.
pledging now is not necessary unless you really want to support development or play right now. You can pledge for as little as $45 and that will give you the full game when it is released, alpha access, beta access, and you can play all of the modes with the starter ship you'd start with in game. you'll be able to play the FPS module as it's being developed, the planetside module which will marry up your ships hangar to the rest of the multiplayer universe, and get to play everything else they'll release before the game is launched.
so there's not really any DLC, but there are a lot of different pledge packages and ships to choose from, so i can see how it looks, especially when some of the packages are really very expensive, but you don't need to pay any more than $45 now to play in alpha, or just wait until it's out and pay probably $60 for the whole thing.
