and cooperative. stop cooperating and see how quickly your arm is broken or you get tazed. i've been arrested plenty and i've never had a problem despite having their guns drawn during the arrest. running would have got me shot. fighting would have got me shot. even mouthing off would have got me injured, they were pretty mad that one time. i could tell, they drew their guns on me. after that i got real compliant. maybe becuase i was raised to understand a losing situation, maybe it's because i wasn't raised to believe i had other options than cooperation. but i'm still here becuase i didn't do something stupid.

And a lot of cops will be rougher than necessary, HOPING to get some resistance that they can turn into a charge that will stick if nothing else works. When someone I know was a prosecutor, there were a few cops that would ALWAYS come in with resisting arrest charges. Every single arrest. There's a natural human response to being manhandled - you'll fight back a bit, involuntarily even, because it's unnatural to go limp in a confrontation like that. There you go, resisting arrest.
You have the right to resist unlawful arrest, but I suppose you're just as likely to end up dead if you try to assert that right.

Here in supposed "Communist evil" China, the police are much more people-oriented. They will talk to you, reason with you, and work with you. Often, people get into shouting, and sometimes shoving matches with police, and the police just try to work it out without an arrest. They are actually really good police here, much better than the violent US.
