And ask your friends: If someone were to create some sort of fanbase that was like the furry fandom, but without drama whores, scumbags, attention whores, disgusting fetishes, and the other unsavory things often associated with furrydom, would you be interested?
Another perk is that one wouldn't have to identify his or herself as a "furry" anymore, which tends to make people very uncomfortable if you mention it.
Simply put, it would be a community not held together by desperation and the need to belong, but rather a common interest without the bullshit. A kind of honest brotherhood, but without the dick sucking.
Starting something like this has been on my mind for about 3 years. Cause.. I just find it kind of disappointing that the only fandom presently established for this interest is kind of uh... freakish and unappealing.

Internet Furries with Utmost Respect (IFUR)
If you are anything like me, you just cannot stand people who just don't seem to respect furries in general. Since, on the Internet, text is (normally) all you've got to express yourself, it makes a lot of sense to care about who you respect. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, extremely few people do. One can hardly hope for this to ever change into "everyone", "most people" or even "the majority", but hopefully from the current "almost nobody" to "quite a few".
IFUR is a "secret" club/resistance for those of us who still "respect" in general. There is no membership fee and there is no need to sign up for anything. After reading this page, you simply decide mentally whether or not you want to "be in". That's it! (Most likely, you will not have to do much, if anything, differently if you agree.)
If you are respectful, you agree to the following:
* Always use correct terminology and image macros as your current knowledge allows you to, even in real-time chat sessions, no matter who you are talking to, regardless of any "peer pressure".
* Constantly strive to stop the fursecution and never settle for "good enough".
* Unless it will get you in trouble, try to correct people who are abusing other furries as often as possible. Beware that many operators in chats will kick or even ban you for doing this.
If enough people start respecting furries, the Internet may become usable again. It may seem hopeless, but you should still do your part. Don't be a sheep!
So why should you respect furries? The real question, at least in a sane world, would be more like this: "Why should you not respect us?" Have you ever felt the satisfaction of doing something right? Knowing that you are pushing yourself to the limit of your capabilities? It's quite addictive, and once you stop the fursecution, you will soon see it as something completely natural and become unable to go back to drinking the haterade without actively trying! I personally have serious trouble writing hatefully.
Now ask yourself: do you have r.e.s.p.e.c.t? Find out what it means to me.
