In the USA it's still completely legal to nick a baby girl's clit to draw blood from it, and IIRC it's also legal to cut off her clitoral hood. In places like Gambia they take a fucking razor blade to a little girl and amputate her clitoris. While circumcision is stupid, barbaric and unethical, I can't really compare it to female genital mutilation because of how easy it is to restore a foreskin through constant gentle tugging. You can't restore a clitoris or the vulva like that, and the surgical female genital restoration operations cannot produce such a clean result. Hopefully in a few years regenerative medicine could be used on victims of FGM to restore them completely.
