Makes sense to me. A lot of nationalists are typically disaffected types who are on the "front lines" of racial tension, and the racist there is typically going to be a trailer park sort. And the top guys, meanwhile, have gotten to the top because they have the charisma and smarts to organise and inspire all of those people.

I guess that comes from my use of "working class" in spite of the American notion that literally everyone is middle class.
