Was Project Chanology a success?

I would really love for someone to try to answer that. All in all, was it bad PR that drove people to think of Scientology as a cult, or was just a lot of PR exposure that benefited Scientology in the end? I'd really like someone (without an ax to grind either way) to try to crunch the numbers and guesstimate that effect.

the old saying about all PR being good PR may apply here

But, on the other hand, Chanology did dredge up a lot of shit on Scientology. I don't think that more people being aware of things like Operation Freakout, Operation Snow White, or just their general cult-like behaviour won them many hearts and minds.
I mean, I can see what you're getting it. It did raise general awareness of Scientology. But the awareness it did raise was largely negative, drawing attention to things that Scientology didn't want people to see. I don't imagine that it was all that beneficial for them,, overall.

nope, nothing anonymous does is ever a success, they have not had a single "raid" or whatever its called be a success, it goes something like this:
1) thread is posted
2) bunch of people rally around
3) try to make the jump to the physical world from the internet
4) "peaceful protest" bullshit that never gets anything done
5) this lasts for a few months until everyone forgets that anything ever happened
and to the op: MONAY!!!

But Anonymous did bring forth things that Scientology didn't want people to see as Killer Lettuce said. That surely has to count for something.

This is pretty much my conclusion too. And I'm not saying to to bash it, it is a missed opportunity to actually change shit. Which is sad.
