Most (if not all) of the "Nazis" here are just trolls. They do say some pretty awful stuff, but you shouldn't take them too seriously. It's their goal to piss you off, after all.

As for TERRs... I haven't seen that on here recently. It is dumb, but it doesn't feel like it has much of a presence, right now. And when it does come up, it's usually argued against.

Also, what do you mean by "clueless liberals", Joe? In what way are they clueless?

I wasn't going to wade into this... But, I mean, YOLO, right?

You can come across as a TERF, a lot of the time. Like when you're against trans men using female bathrooms at all on suspicion of them probably just being perverts, or your mocking "ladystick" comments. You just seem to have a distaste for transexuals in general.

Though I ever so slightly hesitate to outright call you one, as I remember that you did once express sympathy for how difficult it must be for trans people.

? You're saying that trans people "can be misogynistic"? That's a bit of a generalisation, don't you think? Maybe some of them can be that way, but I think it's unfair to say that they're all like that.

As for the bathroom issue, I would generally support a trans person being able to live as the gender that they choose to. And I don't see any real issue with them using women's bathroom's, other than some women possibly being uncomfortable with it because they aren't used to the idea of trans people in general.

I suppose that the argument against it would be people exploiting it, though. Like perverts pretending to be trans to be allowed to hang around in female bathrooms. And that would be bad. A good solution I saw on here once was some sort of unisex bathroom (as in for anyone), which could work. But yeah, it's a tricky issue.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of it on the chans. I've found some of the gender-questioning people to be really into enforcing gender stereotypes (making fun of flat-chested, fat, unattractive, etc. women more than any of the men here) while still retaining whatever male privilege they can.

Demanding to use women's bathroom is male privilege. Men are raised to demand access to whatever they want, women's feelings be damned; it's the same idea with rape culture. You don't see the same kind of demands from FTM transgender people.

I have no problem with a post-surgery person using women's bathrooms.

Oh, fuck off. 1/4 of women have been sexually assaulted by their young adult years. Men demanding access to spaces where they take off their clothes is not okay, there's no way to police it, and women should not have to put up with it. Cut off your dick if it's that important to you.

"Seeing a lot of it" doesn't really justify it. Loud minorities, and all that. You're less likely to see the reasonable, more mild ones. It just isn't a good reason to make such a huge generalisation.

I'm unsure about the second part. One could also take the view that it's controversial because they are biological men asking for access to female bathrooms, with men going into a female bathroom usually being seen as perverted. So they get made out worse by the media and such. Regardless, though, I don't think it's really driven by aggression or make privilege. They just want to live in a way that feels comfortable to them.

Oh, I didn't understand this at first. But yeah, I stick to my original point. I don't see the discomfort as justified, if we're just applying it to actual transexuals who aren't perverts.

As for the racial comparison, I made it because it was the same principle. People being uncomfortable with a minority group getting some sort of new freedom because some perceive them as a threat of some kind. Which was a good counter-point to your initial post on that, which just talked about a vague feeling of discomfort.

Well that really wasn't my intention. All I'm arguing is that this group that's had a very hard time of it get the best outcome.

Look, I'll clarify. I don't agree with a discomfort at trans people in general being allowed to use female bathrooms. Like, distaste at just the idea of a trans person being in a women's bathroom.

But, at the same time, I do acknowledge that it carries with it a risk of perverts exploiting it, and that's a legitimate reason to be cautious about this. Hence, I'm kinda undecided on it. But I also see some general transphobia seeping in anyway, which I will argue against.

Also, the insinuation that I'm being in some way sexist stung, a little. I'm strongly in favour of gender equality. I certainly wasn't aiming to give an impression that was contrary to that.

The problem here is we're dealing with two such groups - pre-op transwomen, and women who legitimately fear for themselves in a vulnerable place like a bathroom.

I DO think this speaks to male privilege - a lack of understanding of the vulnerabilities of being women. This isn't about distaste - that was a word you brought in here. I said "not comfortable," and you decided to give my feelings the most negative and dismissive connotation you could - because, again, you don't, and cannot get what it means to be vulnerable. The only vulnerabilities you see here are transwomen's.

1. Using "male" and "female" as nouns in reference to people sounds fucking creepy and dehumanising. I've only ever heard it from MRAs and TERFs, so... yeah. You're skeeving me the fuck out already.
2. What is sex? I will keep asking this question for as long as "sex", as a relevant concept, is in our discourse. How do you define "sex"?
3. A woman walks into the washroom, does her business, and leaves, just like any other woman. She happens to have a penis. How is this equivalent to a man going into a women's washroom and creeping on people?

You, on the other hand, seem to be gleefully stuck in ideological traditions which have entirely stagnated for forty years, deliberately ignoring any new research and exploration of what gender is beyond weird fucking essentialist stuff which is usually used by manosphere ideologues to excuse rape culture. Like. Your ideology is transphobic, classist, imperialistic, colonialist, racist, and actually literally misogynistic, so just fuck off back to the early '70s or keep up with the times.

I think the Guardian would be a good equivalent. Statist (ie the answer to every problem is more government) with left leanings on wedge issues, but not actually in favor of any radical change.

By 'political center' I mean if you plotted everyone's politics on the Political Compass and drew a circle around where most dots. There are outliers obviously, like OP and myself and Shitarse and others but most would be slightly left-leaning strong statists.

Oh, and we could actually do that, maybe. The Political Compass thing. Though I'm unsure how exactly we would combine our results into one graph. I've also heard that Political Compass isn't a perfect measure of political affiliation.

Right, and if people percieve it in that way then it could affect their choice.

@previous (swamplights !!0lQNsDoq/)
As I've said, that's because it's that feeling that makes them transexual. Not the the operation to make them look like the opposite gender, but the inner knowledge that their brain doesn't match up with their biological gender. Yes, a person could pretend to feel like the opposite gender, or could be confused about it, but at the end of the day, that's what legitimate transsexualism is. It's not just some casual whim, but something innate.

And, well, it is a bit transphobic to say that the very thing that makes them transexuals doesn't matter or isn't real. Also, were they to take that mindset, they would level that accusation at anyone, not jsut females.

They use that accusation against females because its mostly transwomen doing it, and many trans women resent females, and want to use their spaces.
Also males are why mens prisons are more dangerous and why females dont want males in restrooms.

It's funny that TERF websites' evidence of "violent trannies" consists entirely of Twitter screencaps. Cis babies consider off-color tweets such a pressing threat to their safety and "comfort" that they would force trans women to actually endanger themselves by using the wrong bathroom. This is what privilege looks like.

Meanwhile, the corpses of trans people are piling higher everyday, whether inflicted by cis murderers directly or suborned through a life of persecution by the likes of kook or beckyderp. Disgusting.

Shitty people like you and beckyderp are increasingly a minority. Take a look at the bathroom policies of any decent university. Evidently, the "females" there do not fear trans women. On the other hand, your ideology still has plenty of support in trailer parks and similarly thoughtful feminist establishments.

Yeah... I don't really like it either. I'm not blind to the fact that a woman might be on her guard if approached by an unknown man in a dark place (most people probably would be, really), but at the same time, the degree that Buspuppie is going at, it's way too much of an "us against them" thing. A big generalisation of an entire being at risk from another gender. And generalising is never a progressive way to think of things, IMO. I'd much rather it be about equality than playing genders against each other.

...Which is exactly the same logic that racists use. They take a load of crime statistics or whatever, say "oh it's mostly blacks!" and make it an us vs them thing, the idea that this "problematic" group is going to victimise "us decent people".

The fact of the matter is that the problem is criminals, bad people, the individuals who decide to do these things, be that petty crime or rape. It is illogical and unfair to stereotype an entire group to to the actions of some, and ultimately only serves to drive people apart over built-up divisions.

If that woman looked in some way threatening or sinister, then maybe. Similarly, I would be less likely to be intimidated by a weedy, mild looking man.

It's the individual that matters, or should matter. That individual's behaviour, demeanor ect. are what should be one's main cues for assessing their intentions and whether or not they could present a threat. Something like gender (or skin colour or sexuality) is unrelated.

@492,765 (swamplights !!0lQNsDoq/)
Missed this one. Could you try not make three different replies to one post? It is hard to follow.

That's still rather transphobic, the idea that transexuals being accepted like that must be because they stopped raping. It's rather disconcerting that you seem to prominently associate rape with this group of people.

And racists would probably say a very similar thing about other races! Doesn't make it right to do.

And no, definitely not what I said. You said about women being afraid of man approaching in a dark place, I responded that anyone could be afraid in that situation. And I also said that somebody might be afraid of a person of either gender, depending on their individual characteristics.

Let me put to you a question: would you advocate women being distrustful of any and all men? And automatically assuming that any man has bad intentions towards them?
