The average income is over $43,000. Even on the minimum wage - literally the least possible you're lawfully allowed to be paid - one earns $15,000 yearly. I just think, as a nation, we've messed up the Middle East enough and it's time to withdraw and focus on nation building at home. I'd even be happy for the poor Iraqi who lost his sheep to be resettled in Texas with new taxpayer-funded sheep. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper than an endless war lining the pockets of the military industrial complex.

Stop arguing against things that I haven't said. Iraq clearly can't function as a country without an oppressive regime forcing it to stay unified, there are too many different factions. A real solution would listen to the actual people of Iraq and help to build the smaller nations they want to see (for example Kurdistan) by sponsoring infrastructure, business and education.
