Topic: After Obama's done bombing ISIS, will he do a "Mission Accomplished" photo op?

It will be a cakewalk with no boots on the ground. We will win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people and they will welcome us as liberators... again.

I dunno, kinda just burned out on perpetual war, bloodshed, and pissing away trillions of dollars on the Mideast while American living standards decline.

I know it's Obama doing it now, so Team Blue tribalism requires you to support it (though you were against it when Team Red was in power).

Yes. Just him standing in a crater littered with bodies holding his Obama stick over his head triumphantly.

US/EU dug this cesspit so US/EU now have a moral obligation to provide aid and firepower to those who now find themselves refugees as a result of said cesspit overflowing with shit. Whether the 2003 invasion was justified or not is irrelevant in this, because it happened regardless... implications that party politics and licking Obama's ass are the only reason to support this are paper-thin disguises for the real reason you're against it - You're clearly devoid of empathy for these people. You think that "declining living standards" are more important than their living at all - despite the fact that US living standards are even now amongst the best in the world. The average income is over $43,000. Even on the minimum wage - literally the least possible you're lawfully allowed to be paid - one earns $15,000 yearly. This man used to have some sheep, but ISIS stole them from him and now he's got nothing. Do you think he gives a shit about Team Blue or Team Red?

You're right! Once we bomb some jihadist ay-rabs, and prop up a despised, corrupt puppet government in Baghdad Iraq will be a glorious democracy with liberty and justice for all!

This might be why, in fact, he alienates people.

I'm sorry :(

I just think, as a nation, we've messed up the Middle East enough and it's time to withdraw and focus on nation building at home. I'd even be happy for the poor Iraqi who lost his sheep to be resettled in Texas with new taxpayer-funded sheep. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper than an endless war lining the pockets of the military industrial complex.

Stop arguing against things that I haven't said. Iraq clearly can't function as a country without an oppressive regime forcing it to stay unified, there are too many different factions. A real solution would listen to the actual people of Iraq and help to build the smaller nations they want to see (for example Kurdistan) by sponsoring infrastructure, business and education.
