I choose all my relationships based on a set of criteria, even my friends. Basically it has to do with looks, perceived intellect, social status, and how great they think I am. If I do get along with someone, but they dont fit enough of my criteria they're marginalized, and often criticized and belittled. And they figure out that's what I'm doing, and they eventually go away.
Instead of just being with the people I get along with the most, I just mold myself to get along with people who I think can add to my status, bank account, or whatever else.
And that's why I don't usually keep friends, either they catch on that I'm not who I portrayed myself as, or I get bored of them.
But I don't know how to not be superficial, apparently love and friendship arent really just a list of features, but I don't know how to think beyond those terms. I don't want to be loveless, and alone, but how do I stop myself?

Finding quality friends can be easy for some and not easy for others. Kinda like the chances of finding a quality GF in a bar is territory that is not so much so good.
And I need to say this. If you think I made no mistrakes along the way? If only that was true. My personal breakthrough was to analyze why I found it easy to get new cute super cute GF's that ended up as to much trouble to have a long term Thing with Once I discovered a pattern, I almost never repeated such mistrakes again with very rare exceptions.
Thinking with my dick a few tymes resulted in a few fails yet I stopped repeating and all has been mostly good since.
A couple still haunt me like Ghosts and one goes back to grammar school. The other a totally amazing girl in every imaginable way and I just never felt the chemistry - She ended up as carnage and 6 months later I ran into her at a ski show and Cheri told me I had broken her heart and she was selling her house and moving out of state to start over.
Friends early on asked me IF I was ga ga over her and I hesitated - they said end it early or you will break her heart. I was to chicken shit to end it and then then is a story for another tyme but bottom line
This stuff is not easy to figure out BUT postmortem you have to figure it out for self or you will end up disliking yourself and leaving carnage all over town.

Consider the self help section of library or Amazon.com to begin with. You can get therapy and or dig deep into books and learn about what you need to understand about yourself. Or just keep doing DUI relationships till you burn out

One of my friend's has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Rice University, another girl is going to Cornell at the moment for Chemical Engineering, another is a sergeant who does IT work for the military, his father headed the radiation department at NASA. Another goes to Rice, but already has a job lined up at Goldman Sachs in an associate position. To name a few.
