Topic: Israel is worse today than South Africa was during Apartheid.

So why did we boycott South Africa, but we're BFFs with Israel?

I know. How dare a country respond to rocket attacks against its cities. It's literally 1940s Germany m8.

Let give you a little hint. Look at a map of North Africa. Of those countries, how many are close strategic friends of the USA?
Their intelligence service Mossad, is often cited as one of the tops. Give this page a quick skim but avoid reading about all the assignations.

How many of those N African nations consistently steal US technology and sell it to the Chinese? And remind me which "rag head" nation was responsible for attacking the USS Liberty?

But aren't the Israelis provoking the Palestinians with settlements and occupation?

You could equally say America is provoking Muslims with invasions and occupation. True as it might be, nothing excuses terrorist attacks targeting civilians. Could you imagine the overwhelming force the United States would retaliate with if rockets were fired indiscriminately into D.C., by a group that openly states all Americans are legitimate targets?

No country is perfect and mistrakes are made. USS Liberty according to USA was a Israel mistake re miss-identification. Me? Some of Israel's stories about close fly overs and patrol boats no see US flag seems fishy. Then again Israel had nada to gain from taking out that ship. Its not like they had extra planes or boats to waste on a mission that wood gain nada.

Yes o Yes but on the other hand its a game of chess. Taking a bit more desert bit by bit.
Palestine's recent moves, have moved back any possible peace plan for a very long tyme - Palestine and peace = Oxymoron

We are. The whole "THEY HATE US FOR OUR FREEDUMB" thing is bullshit.
> True as it might be, nothing excuses terrorist attacks targeting civilians.
If the military of, say, Canada drove a bulldozer through my house or if their air force dropped a bomb on my house killing eight members of my family I, too would be slightly pissed off at them. The Palestinian death toll is over a hundred now, I tried to figure the ratio of Palestinians to Israelis killed in the current Operation Protective Edge, but my calculator won't let me divide by zero.
> Could you imagine the overwhelming force the United States would retaliate with if rockets were fired indiscriminately into D.C., by a group that openly states all Americans are legitimate targets?
Honestly, if 90% of the rockets were intercepted, and most of the rest didn't kill anyone, I wouldn't be that worried.

This argument makes no sense. It's not a numbers game. All Hamas need to do is stop firing rockets at Israeli towns and cities. Israel have every right to stop a recognised terrorist group from trying to kill and maim their citizens. They use roof knocking, warning flairs, etc., but there will always be civilian casualties, added to by the fact Hamas is known to use women and children as human shields.

House demolition is indefensible, and their WB settlements are too, but the idea Israel should stand idly by while rockets are fired at their towns because "they don't kill anyone" is absurd. Hamas target civilians, Israel do not.

You're right. Those women and children killed should have retreated into the wide open countryside of the Gaza Strip. It's their own fault for being in close proximity to the terrorists. Ah, fuck it they're muzzie A-rabs so they would have grown up into terrorists anyway. I mean, there will always be civilian casualties, right?
> They use roof knocking, warning flairs, etc., but there will always be civilian casualties, added to by the fact Hamas is known to use women and children as human shields.
Oh, that's why it's okay to bomb houses. I'll phone Hamas and tell them to fire warning shots, which will legitimize their rocket attacks.
> House demolition is indefensible
Except if you knock the roof first, of course.
> and their WB settlements are too, but the idea Israel should stand idly by while rockets are fired at their towns because "they don't kill anyone" is absurd. Hamas target civilians, Israel do not.
No, a lot of civilians just get killed. They should have just gone on holiday or built bomb shelters, or something.

Also where do you draw the line for appropriate response to an attack? If someone punches you, do you have the right to shoot them? If someone in a tower block is launching rockets, is it right to blow the whole building up?

No, it's okay with or without warnings. Bombs, generally, are dropped during military engagements. Civilians aren't intentionally targeted, but of course civilians will die. What other country on the face of the Earth would tolerate rockets being fired at its cities?
@previous (Metæ)
Do you think allowing Hitler to conquer Europe and continue the Holocaust would've been a good idea, since more civilians died during World War 2 than would have died otherwise? Do you seriously believe we should use the body count of wars to decide which are just?

Israel shouldn't tolerate them, but slaughter (no other word for it, really) of innocent Palestinians is a war crime. Killing four innocents for every militant is not "a few civilian casualties". Also, more than 90% of Palestinian rockets are neutralized by Iron Dome.
> Do you think allowing Hitler to conquer Europe and continue the Holocaust would've been a good idea, since more civilians died during World War 2 than would have died otherwise? Do you seriously believe we should use the body count of wars to decide which are just?
Hitler had already pretty much conquered Europe and the Holocaust was 1) not the reason the Allies entered the war and 2) was not widely known about till the end and 3) pretty much done by 1945. So no, I don't think fighting WWII accomplished much.
