This movie is so fucking bad ass! I first saw it while being babysat around the age of 8, and I loved it! I thought it was a comedy for the longest time. I remember laughing hysterically at the scene where Joan Crawford beats the shit out of her daughter with can of Ban Ami cleaning powder. Alright, just finished watching it. It took about an hour or so to get going which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it did drag on a bit at certain points. The plot summary led me to believe that Dustin Hoffman would be getting mercilless revenge on the men who bullied him, and for his wife being raped, but that's not quite how it went down. It had excellent acting and a satisfactory script compared to the original "The Last House on The Left" for example, but all in all I was pretty disappointed. Maybe my standards are fucked, but I felt like it should have been a lot more brutal, and a lot more bloody. I don't think it was about revenge really, I think it was more about Dustin Hoffman breaking out of the whimpy and passive persona that he seemed to be stuck in. At any rate, ever since I checked out "I Spit on Your Grave" (the remake, not the original), the revenge movies that I watch have a hard time impressing me (save the Kill Bill series). It wasn't terrible, but it didn't floor me either. Watch it if you like, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it.
