Topic: so as it happens believers are stupider than atheists.
squeegee started this discussion 12 years ago#35,246
believers believe in a magic cloud man that lives in outerspace and grants wishes. atheists don't, since there's less proof for that than even a shitass claim.
mad? go tell cloud genie and maybe he'll smite me a good one.

I don't think that being religious directly impedes one's intelligence. A person can be religious and very intelligent. However, I do agree that it is an illogical belief that does not withstand rational examination.

@previous (J) > The intelligence-religiosity nexus: A representative study of white adolescent Americans:
Thanks and about all I can say is - adolescents grow up "usually" and Americans leaves out the rest of Planet Earth including a tiny non-believing for the most part China.
Still its a study worth looking at so thanks again.

It probably has to do with their education and class, as the Jews, Anglicans and Atheists tend to be of the upper classes. And the Agnostics tend to be smart enough to doubt their faith and other faiths. The Pentecostals are just retarded.

Years ago because of a relationship and staying overnight with her friends family in bay area - on sunday we attended a Holy Rollers service - Damn funny with the speaking in tongues.

“Because here's something else that's weird but true: in the day-to day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of god or spiritual-type thing to worship - be it JC or Allah, be it YHWH or the Wiccan Mother Goddess, or the Four Noble Truths, or some inviolable set of ethical principles - is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive. If you worship money and things, if they are where you tap real meaning in life, then you will never have enough, never feel you have enough. It's the truth. Worship your body and beauty and sexual allure and you will always feel ugly. And when time and age start showing, you will die a million deaths before they finally grieve you. On one level, we all know this stuff already. It's been codified as myths, proverbs, clichés, epigrams, parables; the skeleton of every great story. The whole trick is keeping the truth up front in daily consciousness.”

I'm pretty sure "worshiping" "money and things" isn't quite the same as worshiping something supernatural. I don't think anyone who has a lot of money and things actually worships those things or their own money -- this is a poor interpretation of the word worship.

Money is worshipped, stop being a mora.
A lot of people put their faith in the Dollar every day.
It is false idolatry, the entire world fawning over bits of paper; all bearing the name of God.

If 2day, I could do so much more better multiplying the time domain signals - alas so many memories of a rare good tyme in that biz.

Ah but tell me this - You talk about how difficult life 4 ya has been. Pain n all. Was it Jesus plan to put you and keep u in pain?
Wot good is it to believe in something that cannot help you in such pain? You can take a pill to kill pain but a prayer to Jesus? Don't think that works so well.
Damn they are so very easy to make - Wayyyyyyy back as kiddlet I sure did - back then it was several days worth of project - Also the pay back re play was not really worth the effort. I mean as a toy it was good for entertaining friends for maybe 45 - 90 mins and then put away and never played with again until a Halloween party or2.
Today a Theremin wood be so much more easy to build cause of simple off the shelf IC's a few odd parts and a free power supply from Cell chargers tossed away every day.
Moogs were horrid just horrid to keep working when on the road. Never designed to be moved around. But market use was to use them on the road. Met Moog who was a very smart Engineer.

The Lord gains his power and ability though those who believe in Him - Satan, likewise. Don't ask why God allows pain and suffering - ask that of yourself.
