I love how he mentions that part about confusing similar pieces and how that makes the puzzlespace unsolvable. I first ran into this problem with a 15-puzzle, and quickly realized it works the same way in multiple dimensions: Exactly what he is talking about with the 3x3 standard Rubik's Cube. (at 4'08" if you didn't catch it) I love that someone notices these things other than me.
The guy who did this video is a serious puzzle nerd. I love him. I
may actually stay up nights trying to come up with a strategy for the sudoku cube. I've done cubes with numbers that have to all be in same orientation, and it's a bitch. The one in the video looked like it had distinctive fonts that you could match to each other. Maybe the fonts were crazy and random just to fuck with people (that would be funny), but if they're not it's a big giveaway to proper orientation and alignment.
EDIT: Are there six styles of font or nine? If you have to match them or include them all could provide some additional clues as to how to solve this. Or do they just vary them randomly to laugh at people when they want patterns to exist?

That's not even a puzzle. Just rub your face around in it for a while and do silly things with your tongue. There's a bonus prize for finding the "fun" spot!!
