on reddit the OP posted a ridiculous story about a conversation had between him and a friend, obviously made up and invented to only aggrandize OP, it was a horribly transparent attempt to impress strangers. When i read one of shitasses screeds this is immediately how i feel about it. This also applies to Mountainman's pedo tales, TG Comix's rants, postmortem, Bobby2sox and many, many more.
Because they want an opportunity to present itself where they can extoll their self-perceived strengths, traits, and virtues and get it acknowledged, validated, or confirmed by others through their comments. In this case, he's attempting to create the appearance of modesty by having a different individual compliment him or comment on his traits.
Since situations don't often present themselves like this, especially online, they make situations whereby they can get whatever point across about themselves that they want to, in this case his "animalistic fight", "crazy eyes", and "demonic instinct". Rather than commenting on their traits directly as themselves, which might be seen as immodest or silly, they create another person to do so for them, or create a story where those traits show through.
Unfortunately for them, they often don't realize that their stories are entirely transparent to every single reader, and the resulting cringe is why it's ended up here. Oftentimes they're teenagers or young adults who don't have a fully-developed sense of self, yet, and doubt the intelligence of other people, thinking that their story won't be seen through as the fabrication that it is.
Even if other people do claim that it's fake, as well, they can't prove that it is, right? Their true friends will back up their words, won't they?
At the end of the day, though, it's sort of a thing that I think that a great deal of people can empathize with and relate to, and is sort of a rite of passage, especially in the internet age. I can't relate to this situation exactly, but I know that I definitely told some tall tales, especially when I was in my early teens. Even with that foundation of understanding, though, the cringe is still there, and probably even strengthens it.

this is the part that really gets me because it's basically insulting someone would think you're dumb enough to believe them.
here's the original post that prompted such a harsh reply.
Tell me this doesn't sound like postmortem

This is how I feel when he posts.

So you're saying they're being edgy teenagers fabricating stories because they have nothing worth talking about?
