The server is live! I finally had some free time over the weekend and I'm pretty sure everything is good to go. Come check it out. Fuck around and see if anything major is broken. Anyone else is welcome to check it out as well, whitelist is off. I didn't wanna make a thread specifically for it until I know if it's okay or not.

I had to drop Archemedis ships, it was just too damn buggy. The developer said he's hoping to commit some time soon to fixing problems in multiplayer minecraft. Until then we've got modular powersuits to play with, and they are really neat.
Cracked clients should work with this setup as well.

Ks, you give away the chestplate and helmet, but not the boots or the leggings?

I didn't think about that. I just wanted to get something going. The nightvision on the helmets is really neat, I should add that as well. The starting inventory mod is used to set up starting items.
I learned a lot from setting up this server and it's part of the reason I did it. I think I made every mistake possible along the way, but I learned something from it each time. I have a semi-related pet project in mind and I needed to learn about Minecraft.
Anyhow, after I got this all put together I took a bit of time to look around at the Minecraft community. I quickly came to the conclusion that these mods, as cool as they are, they are on a billion servers. In order to get any interest at all in a server you have to be doing something unique. I have something in mind, but it'll take a bit to see if I can even do what I'm thinking. In the meantime, I've made you OP. Run the server as you please, or don't. Either way is cool.

why not do something like civicraft?
its a pretty interesting concept, but the server is nearly always at its limit.

edit: i think it took me too long and the server is down D: well, thats my fault so sorry lol. Anyway I did play in singleplayer for a bit, and the modpack seems to be pretty cool. I'm not really all that much into minecraft anymore myself though.

Yeah, I'm just learning Minecraft so I can set up a server for all the kids in the family (extended family included). I think it'll be a good way for them to hang out given they don't see each other much. Most of them play Minecraft so I'm hoping they'll participate. I rented this dinky server (which is being DDOS'D atm) just to make sure I know exactly what to do when I rent a more powerful and expensive server. I do plan to keep this little server online for awhile though. I've been having a bit of fun - I do enjoy learning. I've got something (hopefully) unique in the works and I think people who like Minecraft will enjoy it. Catherine doesn't seem interested though, feel free to unsticky.
