Topic: Multiplayer kerbal space program is a thing now

Seems pretty neat, and I will be trying this out at some point. Are there any minichanners who enjoy launching kerbals into space? Should I see if a minichan server is possible?

I would launch many many Kerbae if I could. Would a minichan server accept pirate copies?

This is a good question, I do not know. I assume it will if you use a pirated 0.23.5

let's build minichanopolis in space

A shame that this game requires a rocket scientist.

It's not that hard. Install mechjeb and watch what it does.

yeah. also it's not hard to do most things once you learn when to do them.
there's, like, 3 things you can do.
you can burn in the direction you're already headed,
you can burn in the opposite direction you're headed,
and you can burn perpendicularly to the direction you're headed.
that's it.
when you do one of those things you alter your course by making your orbit either more egg shaped, or more circular.
launching into orbit is also easy, you build a simple 2 state rocket out of 7 parts and launch it.
at 10km roll to a 45 degree incline bearing 90 degrees (east).
cut engines when your apoapsis rises to above 70km on your minimap.
after coasting to the apoapsis burn prograde (in the direction you're already headed) to circularize your orbit around the planet.
that's it.
it's not hard

yeah it's a silly game that throws a lot of data at you is all

And now describe an orbital rendevouz :P

those are killer. but i bet the tweaks they made to the stabilizer system make it a bit easier on final approach. but still it's hard to not just circle your target.
mech jeb really is a great mod, it makes rendevouz less impossible. figuring the launch window is hard in and of itself, actually.

The main issue I've been having with the rendevous is matching up the location of the intercept. Such a cunt.

Anyway lately I've been playing with the translatron in mechjeb, and it's great. It can hold your spacecraft at a specified altitude, and optionally kill any horizontal momentum. I've been using it together with the Kerbal Attachment System mod that adds winches for a towship, collecting any and all debris that I littered throughout the solar system and bring it back to kerbin.

It also lets you build using the smaller parts from EVA, letting you attach them to each other etc. Made a start on a nice little mun base that is actually attached to the surface of the mun (to little effect, though i suppose it makes it less likely to topple over once i start building up)

Do you recommend playing without mods first?

r04r (OP) replied with this 12 years ago, 1 minute later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #478,963

@previous (B)
Yeah, make sure to do all the tutorials and try and get to the mun (and back) without mods first. Then after that I strongly suggest http://kerbalspaceport.com/0-18-2-kas-kerbal-attachment-system-v0-1/ and http://kerbalspaceport.com/mechjeb/
