Attended a meeting of select Qualcomm stockholders a few months ago. We all were given one to play with. It has one hell of a camera in it. Other then being told its in massive production in China by a brand new company - that is all I know. Of course its Android and puts money in my wallet re using Qualcomm Snapdragon and several other Qualcomm chips.

As with any brand new product made by a brand new company - One might wait a bit until a mass of people around you have it and are happy with its quality. It was impressive n is supposed to be China Cheep.

Oneplus One equals one on a bun.

What is it made out of? Plastic?

I thought it was a aluminum case - however just looked it up

"Has magnesium housing"

The handset is housed in a magnesium casing which weighs 162 g. With a 5.5 inches display, the handset is only 8.9mm thick and it is touted as ergonomic-friendly and easy to hold, with a tapered edge of only 4.6mm

A lot of us wondered what wood happen if you sat on it or dropped it from a regular ladder. Sitting on it did not hurt it nor was a ladder available in the room to drop it.

Dropping to floor with video streaming on - that was impressive re gyro video stabilizing - No one in the room was willing to compare to personal phones in the simple drop test.

Awesome, I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully this changes the dynamics in the smartphone market for a long time to come.

For several reasons currently I have been constrained about commenting on up and coming products that use Qualcomm parts. I get to see what is going to hit the market wayyyyy in advance.

That said it really makes me wonder why Microsoft bought Nokia. Nokia does have multiple models with Qualcomm Snapdragon chips but that Oneplus I had in my hands - was very impressive!!

What kind of price is this thing selling for in your hood?

I've been watching the whole 1+ thing since CM announced that it existed, and the promotion that they're doing right now (Smash the Past) is fucking boneheaded as fuck, but I'm absolutely getting the phone. Bang for the buck on it is amazing.

$299 for the 16GB, similarly cheap elsewhere, from what I've heard.

I think it looks fun. I'd smash my oldish phone to pieces if I won.

Nah, they have a list of phones. Oldest thing on there is the HTC One (2013 edition), from what I saw.

As with technology its bang for the buck. I have yet to look C how low the price will go. Ash says

its like €300 for the most expensive one

and its better than the phones that sell for like €800

So its CPU capability and memory and camera and IF I believe the marketing/Tech presentation it has one hell of a battery for such a package. So its up tyme after full charge.

I also remember that battery is NOT removable -

CPU of that Snapdragon is still the ole 32 bit and 64 Bit available so its a given somebody going to take advantage of such.

Cell market is NOT my area of expertise. I sit back watch the presentations and r surrounded by experts

Experts and I have attended more then one meeting on this subject - They say its currently a phone that sets the bar for price vs function.

Of course there are huge number of companies in R&D working on becoming the new thingy that people rush to market to buy. You and I no such will happen sooner then later.
