No it wasn't. Back in the old days we had strict limits on how long memes were valid for. Each meme only lasted 12 hours, and was forgotten about the moment it fell off the front page. Anyone caught reviving an old meme was taken out back and given a savage beating with baseball bats (wood, back in those days -- the aluminum ones hadn't been invented yet).
