I can't test it, because I'm not a scientist.

When you microwave a magnet you instantly gain a random power. If your new power isn't something dumb like "the ability to talk to ducks" or "the power to instantly determine the exact age of any cheese", then you will be picked up in a van and taken to Captain Picard's school for the gifted.

I wouldn't underestimate a duck talking power. One of the most powerful heroes in comics is a woman who can communicate with squirrels, you know.

Just the ability to talk to them probably wouldn't get you too far. I imagine they'd mostly just ignore you when they weren't asking for the croutons off your salad.

Well, you could build a rapport with them. Get to know how they think. Trust could be built. An alliance formed.

In fact a microwave can become a tyme machine if you put a magnet inside it and turn it on. Back to that in a bit.
So first of all if you put a Magnet inside any oven that heats it UP - By by Magnet and you're left with a no more Magnet cause you have heated the molecules and excited them and they stop being alined and Magnet property is kaput. Key is to stay below the Curie temp of that Magnet and all will be ok. Go above and kaput.
Any oven however does NOT Include Microwave ovens. Almost everyone who uses Microwave ovens has put a coffee cup or plate that was decorated with Gold around the rim or Silver plating and then observed sparks a plenty and if left in a bit you end up with metal burnt off. Do that to long on cheep ovens and you could Destroy the oven.
A Real hunk of Metal aka Magnetic including Oxide types wood appear to the Oven as Horrid just Horrid. (Unless a more expensive type)
So as tyme machine? Yes your Oven could run out of life tyme rapidly. More expensive models will sense what we Engineers call High VSWR (Reflected power) and drop the output of the Magnetron to a low nuff level to protect the oven. In such ovens the Magnet wood not heat up and all wood be cool.
By the by - The Tube aka Magnetron that is key to Microwave ovens, uses a very powerful Magnet.

But what happens if you microwave a smaller microwave with a magnet inside?

Good thing I am on the clock and billing a customer.
> But what happens if you microwave a smaller microwave with a magnet inside?
This Industrial Mega Microwave Oven will be most happy to accept any smaller Microwave oven which may or may not contain a Magnetic.
Oven will in Microseconds detect the smaller block of Metal and its switching power supply will fold back and the 75KW Magnetron will pulse in burst and nothing will happen so so so
The Magnet inside the small oven will be cozy nor warm up.

If I had one of those, I'd only use it for popcorn.

You could in fact climb inside with a bag of popcorn and pop that corn while you hold the bag. Ah news is on in background worthy of a new topic
