I'm pretty sure that's just a rope or cord he is carrying around his waist, but it does look a little like a tusk from that angle, no? Narwhals don't get tusks until later in life though; otherwise, pregnancy would pose serious problems for momma narwhal.

The spelling error in the title got me excited. I thought a dolphin somehow formed a rice paddy 12 days after the tsunami, feeding countless Japanese people.
