I imagine I'd survive 2-3 weeks tops. First I'd eat a shitload of fine food I could find in the fridges of empty expensive houses, than I'd grab the fastest cars I could get my hands on and trip around Europe, and if I didn't die in a horrible 300+ km/h car crash, I'd probably die the moment I got my hands on a fighter jet and try to fly it.

i would have to live a long time. i'd do stuff like visit washington and go through files, go to lockheed skunk works, check out nasa. go nose around the vatican.

I imagine the power grid wouldn't last long. For the first week I'd live like a king off the finest filet mignon, lobster, etc. After all the fresh food spoiled, I'd switch to eating mainly canned food and whatever I could forage. I'd take a nice house near the woods and a river (won't be any public water, either) and get some guns and take up hunting for food once the population of deer and stuff comes back. Probably also try to garden. I'd end up looting the libraries and reading constantly.
I imagine I could make it into my 60s or 70s, barring any unforeseen accidents.

How would you get to the vatican? I see potential death with you flying an airplane across the ocean. And that's exactly how I imagine I'd die... get a plane and attempt to fly to Guatemala, and die somewhere at the end of the take-off strip hahaha.

Essentially this. But I'd claim a nice house in Truro instead, and without the hunting. Also Waterstones instead of the library. But maybe the library eventually.
I also like Squeegee's idea of looking through confidential documents and exploring restricted areas. Think I'd check out the local military bases and courts.

oh, well my dad was a private pilot and i know how to fly, i just don't have a license or any practice landing and haven't done it in years. also any plane that i would be licensed to fly wouldn't make it over the ocean and airliners are quite complicated so i wouldn't even attempt to fly something that would make it over the atlantic.
but we are talking the atlantic so i'd probably take a boat. something big and stable, like an oil tanker or something. maybe a cruise ship if i could figure out how to start the engines. if it's anything like a locomotive it'll be a snap. figuring out how to fuel it up might be an issue but i'm sure i can find training manuals or instructions somewhere. i would be worried that the ship would break down due to my lack of experience with large boats and engines so i'd probably try and tow out a smaller boat just in case i get stuck. at least that way if i see land i can make it there.
of course probably the logistics of a trip like that aren't readily apparent so in my lack of planning or oversight i might die trying.

actually i guess if we're talking the disappearance of everyone in the world safety laws wouldn't preclude me from adding up to 600lbs of gas stored in seat mounted tanks. maybe i could rig a small single engine fixed prop plane to actually fly across the atlantic. i would need to crunch some maths to know for sure, but maybe i could fly over the ocean in a cherokee.
