i second this, weed would straighten him out quick. he would suddenly enjoy life and become productive.

he ought to become a food server, all those folks smoke and they might drug test just to hire him, but that's doubtful, they'd never have new waitstaff if they did that. so probably he could just get a job as a host or a bus boy or something and get weed from his coworkers. probably one of the cooks even sells it. ask the mexican one, or whatever illegal alien minority you people in england oppress, that dude sells.

you're probably right, all of this will have to happen after his eventual incarceration. but he'll sober up for a year or two and then a little pot will be real nice

Weed would almost certainly be better for Green than alcohol. Good for him? I dunno. There's a big difference between getting high as shit a few times and being high all the time. Being high all the time is far more manageable and relaxing. I could totally imagine someone feeling 'too high' and not liking weed if they only smoked occasionally.
